nyjoanie
OMG THAT IS HYSTERICAL! I wonder who did the "art work"? phoenixgirl
Okay; I bought the movie but was not aware that there was a surprise after the credits....Gonna have another look; thanks for the "heads up" sorry for the pun....Loved Gerry in his fatigues; he looks like he was "born" to wear them! It's not after the movie it's after Part 3 of the making of video in the extras.
Dutchie
Does anyone know if there are different versions of the DVD, for different countries? I got mine today and the only special features I see are : Behind the Scenes and Interviews Cast and Crew. Or it could be that I'm just stooopid. AbandonThought
Since there are multiple region DVDs I suppose they can put whatever they want on the different versions. Maybe they make strategic decisions based on where they expect it to sell better. I assume it costs more to put the extra features on, and if they don't expect to sell many they may keep the features down so it'd be cheaper and easier to achieve an economy of scale. Big gyp for those of you who don't get it all though. Personally, I'm still feeling angry that they're gyping me out of the Director's Cut on LAC just because I can't afford to buy a BluRay. Okay, I'll get over it one of these days... Maybe not. :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: Steph
terezoulini
Has anyone watched the movie with the commentary yet? I just did and having seen that "scene" after the credits of the making of featurette as well, I can say that this DVD/Bluray should have come with a warning! I mean there is definitely more "information" there than I needed. :-) Especially in the commentary at the part where Kable is "fueling" the get away vehicle and the directors saw fit to share certain info about Gerry. I thought that was a bit uncalled for and inappropriate. Well, after looking it up on Google that is because this was something in the English language that I did not know! :-) Did you guys get it? Because it took me sometime and I wish I didn't know now, way too personal. Anyway, am I the only one or is there someone else who will also have difficulty in watching Star Wars again? :-) Theresa

In either case, I must admit, I really hope the DVD comes out here. Lol. (I blame it on the fact I'm modern and in my 20's.)
NanLynn
I'm soooooo going to watch that on "on demand" tonight!!! Just got home a couple of days ago... phoenixgirl
Just watched the commentary. I'm not sure why it's a big deal ... who cares? It's hilarious what they said - as a Star Wars fan I loved the reference. I'm sure if Gerry had a problem with it he would have said so prior to the release of the DVD. Something tells me he doesn't care one way or the other. Seriously ... it's not that big of a deal. And if you've seen that "extra", I have a feeling that someone who does that wouldn't care too much. The rest of it was hilarious! Mark & Brian are sooo funny!! And Amber Valetta is a great participant. I only wish Gerry had participated. One day I hope he gets to ... I'd love to know the reason why he's not on any commentaries. Maybe they don't trust he won't stop talking. Little do they know how much we LOVE to hear him talk and talk!! Melodie
I love commentaries with the cast members! It makes it so much more enjoyable. There was one I watched a few years back and the two co-stars were pointing out a mole in the scene and how they missed it since it was removed after the filming. Throughout other random parts of the movie too, mind you. It's a shame Gerry hasn't been on any yet, I keep looking though because maybe we'll get lucky someday. It would be interesting to hear his point of view on things, or just to hear him talk. Lol.
Jeb
Maybe he doesn't want to do them? He's not on the LAC one either and he certainly could have done that one if he'd wanted to. I wish he'd do one, too, but he seems to avoid it. jane

Maybe they don't trust he won't stop talking. Little do they know how much we LOVE to hear him talk and talk!! No one is saying it's a big deal, I'm just saying it was rather uncalled for and rude and too personal but I'm sure Ger is not losing any sleep over it. :-) It's one thing for Gerry to choose to show something himself and another thing for someone else to reveal something private of his in his absence just for a laugh, especially when it's such useless information; I'm sure no one wonders about it anyway. :-) I don't think Gerry was given a chance to listen to the commentary and sign it off, I'm sure he listened to it with the rest of us, if he did indeed listen to it, maybe he hasn't even bothered. But I agree with you, he seems such an easy going guy with a rough sense of humour so I don't think he has a problem with it. But this doesn't make it OK as far as the directors are concerned IMO. Let's just agree to disagree on that :-) On another topic, did anyone else got the feeling that maybe there was some sort of light friction between Gerry and the directors at times? In the commentary there are two instances where the directors clearly state that Gerry was disagreeing with their directions. One is in reference to the scene where the slayers are shown running in slow motion in a promotional clip of the game. Gerry was quite right in disagreeing and I really do not like the directors apporach of "don't use your brains and do as you're told". Furthermore, at the scene where John Tillman is in a corridor at the Humanz hide out, sitting on the floor with his head in his hands looking really miserable, they say that this was pretty much how Gerry looked when he had to take directions from them. It just goes to show you what a true professional and a great guy he is, because he has always been very positive about the film and the directors and has never hinted anything about differences with them. He always seems to rise above any situation, I should try and be more like him. :-) Theresa Edited January 31, 2010 by terezoulini
Donnie
I like audiocommentaries as well - even if he does not speak there, they always say at least something interesting regarding him and filming... Unfortunatelly, in European version the audiocommentary is missing (or am I wrong? - I speak about normal - non-BlueRay - version from the UK).... There are only "Inside the Game: Controlling Gamer" and "Cheat Codes" extras, and English subtitles. But it is nice to have it at least as it is... Christine ONeal
Gamer certainly isn't one of my faves because of the violence and it's just...weird. That being said, I think Gerry looks incredibly sexy in it. There's something about Gerry holding a big gun that really turns me on.
Rendita
I've got the BluRay & the picture quality is excellent. You can really see the dirt flying. The still they show of Kable/Tillman during the talk show appearance is extremely clear. Gerry's eyes look spectacular & you can see every sweaty speck of dirt on his face. I actually liked the movie, although I'll admit it's not for everyone. I really enjoy "brooding" Tillman. If you liked the movie, I would get it. Plus there's always the extras. You wouldn't want to miss G's practical joke.
Min@
If you acquire, take the blue-ray. Gerry was impressive in the role of Kable. The strength of the films are not dialogue, and he did very well to interpret the slightest feeling with body language and with one glance. The special, unfortunately, are not like yours, we cut things ..... we are nerds! Thanks for the info, I've almost convinced.
may
Ok I bought the movie and noticed the "hidden talent" in the extras.... Gerry; you are such a cheeky fellow... See Joel; no padding needed!
MissSilverWolff
So, you guys (GALS, I'm sorry, as well) got me to buy the DVD now. I saw whatever it was you all were talking about. My god! midnightchris
I've got the DVD, too. Unfortunately, it hasn't got any bonus material, but I think I know what you all mean - I saw the episode on youtube, it's hilarious, I laughed all the way through it! And Gerry's satisfaction after doing it, the throat clearing and large grin were priceless! And Neveldine was cracking up, too!
Min@
I understand what you're talking about , I saw the video on youtube too. I do not know if the special dvd Italian, have been omitted certain content ..... we Italians are always losers in this ! The special features are never as yours! You tell me what to include? Lamen see if they are the same. Edited July 30, 2010 by Min@
CrystalS
I was fascinated with the concept behind this film, although it reminds me of Deathrace as well. It's the same idea. A person in prison is competing for their freedom and no one is really suppose to win. I wouldn't be surprised if they considered the idea one of these days. It would really put the determination of the individual on the line, push them to the breaking point and it could rehabilitate a lot of severe behavior. Gerry made a fantastic action hero in this one. When he got drunk, I had to laugh, but I know he was also taking a risk by losing his usual coordination. He could have gotten himself killed on the off chance he wasn't totally in control. I just found the idea of controling people in a social network to the point of making them have sex appalling! I mean, can you imagine how many perverts and rapists would enjoy something so grotesque? It's disgusting! I hope that never happens. I would rather have control of my mind thank you! Free will is a God-given right and I intend to enjoy it and use it.
