Attila Girl
Well, I guess everyone is watching the SuperBowl? Well, I'm not! I just got done watching the PuppyBowl...so cute!! Sue, How are you? I got to go back to the last SC floor and see some really cute pix of your two little guys. My goodness, they sure are adorable!! ANNA dear How are you? How's the elbow? Is there a cast now? Sorry I'm not there to make you a cup of tea and read to you. And do all your housework, and ... SUZIE & ELISSA: How's the weather down there in Texas? And FRANNIE, Are you snowed in? I keep seeing lots of snow on the East coast down to where you live. What's up? Well, I finally made it out to see the movie I had planned to see on Christmas Day..."Sherlock Holmes". It was great!! (Especially that Dr Watson!! ), I love that MAN!! But, yes, it was a good story and always loved Robert Downey Jr too! I really loved "The Young Victoria". "Me and Orson Wells" was interesting. But not a keeper, which means even tho Zac Ephron is in it, it's not the kind of film you'd want to buy and watch again. Okay, let me try this; Hello to CAT, Risa, Peggy, Jill, Katie, Delene, Aunt Em, Jenn, Holly, Barb, Dayna, Jenni, Annette, Diane, Cheryl, Sherrill, Susan, Suzanne, Isabeau, CASSIE, Tanya, Tracy, Debbie, Bethy, RamseyGirl, BeeJay, Musik, Somer, Wendy, and .... Okay I don't think I did as good as I wanted to. Okay, better go now. I wish you all a wonderful week!! Andrea~mc
I can't quit coughing! Nancy,I like Dr.Watson too Sue-I'm glad that part is over for your son.I am not the one who filed for divorce in my case, but by the time we actually went to mediation,I was so glad when it was finally over. And thankfully we didn't have to take co-parenting classes together or we never would've passed I'm glad B2 got to keep his insurance. My ex's lawyer tried to get me to pay his costs too and I was like "With what? I'm living with my parents,I have nothing." it didn't go through. I'm glad you got to spend some time with your step-daughter,sounds like ya'll needed that crying time together. I hope you don't catch this creepin' crud. Andrea, Memphis is almost entirely shut down due to the early morning snow we've had with the threat of coming rain and sleet. Texas gramma
To satisfy everyone's curiosity, here is a link to the photo throws at QVC. http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/...sonalized-Throw There are a couple of other options, just type in Photo Throw in the search window. The blankies are very high quality and really warm and can be tossed in the washer. (However, the thought of Gerry's face going through that indignity gives me the heebie jeebies!) I'm so sorry so many of you are ailing or (in Anna's case) broken. All I can say is just stop it! Gramma sez, "GET BETTER, all of you"! (Elissa, weather wise this whole week is going to be filthy, so stay inside!) Having lunch today with some of my high school classmates. I dug up some photos of me from that time. If I can get them scanned, I will try to post them. Was there ever anything HOTTER than my 4'11", 80lb self wearing 137 yards of petticoats and cat's eye glasses???? I think NOT! Hugs!! GBPhanatic
Guid mornin, me lovelies! Super bowl came and went and I didn't watch it this year. My son and his step son had a party over at their house. T came back and I was expecting to get some left over chili and all I got was a brownie and he said he was lucky to get that with a house full of teenage boys. Like Nancy, I watched the puppy bowl. I tried to watch Shattered that came on at midnight but I fell asleep (sorry Ger). It was a bit strange but I'm sure if I hadn't been so sleepy, I would have understood it better. Gerry looked goooooood! Very handsome, as usual. Pierce Brosnan was always my mom's heart throb. Everything is white here, so pretty! The trees have snow on the limbs and the birds are like decorations. The tree outside my kitchen window this morning had two cardinals and a blue jay among other birds, their colors stark against the white backdrop! All my cats can do is look out and watch. It's like TV for kitties! Hope all of you with creeping cruds, coughs, etc., get better soon. Delene

Anna
Just managed to wiggle out the old fingers from under the body bandage, trussed up like a turkey here, cracked my right elbow, hairline fracture of the distal end of right humerus to be correct. Treatment, immobilization........and before anyone says 'Hello Horatio' I have heard all the jokes thank you. Still waiting to hear from Opthalmic Surgeon but hey ho, no hurry, not as if I'm going anywhere soon. Hope all the 'Winter Bugs' are passing you all by, if not then have a special one eyed, one handed Hug! Have you all seen the new siggy Frannie made for me? I didn't even have to ask, so kind. I'll go have a wee peek at the rest of the posts and catch up on the news but first I must ask someone to take me to the bathroom, hate that, means I can't get out on my own....and we had flurries of snow again. Big Hugs for all, Anna x
Lady Elissa
Good afternoon, everyone! I called in sick to work today and only just got up about 30 minutes ago. Besides the lingering sniffles and cough, I'm actually feeling a little better. I never did have any fever. Anna-that siggy is beautiful! I'm so sorry you broke your arm! I hope it heals completely soon! Suzie-I hope you enjoy your lunch with your friends from high school. I'm not in touch with any of mine anymore. Glad to see those throws are still available. They're a little pricey, but worth every penny to be wrapped up in Gerry! Thayna- Delene-I didn't watch the game either, but I'm glad New Orleans won. New Orleans is like a second home to me. We've been going to New Orleans almost every summer since the 1980s. Hugs to all you lovely GALS!

The boys are home safely,I drove down to Oakland yesterday and got them. We had about an inch of snow this morning, then it melted off, then we got about 3"+ on top of that and it's still coming down mixed with sleet and freezing rain.I believe this is the 4th time we've had snow in 2010. And I told my ex that he'll just have to forego his midweek visit because I'm not getting the boys on the road in this stuff. As far as the "creepin' crud" I am trying.Desperately trying.I took some Mucinex earlier in an attempt to cough up junk,I am just coughing constantly and it's making my already raw throat, hurt worse. But I guess I just have to endure to cough up stuff. I did watch the Super Bowl last night and let me tell ya,yelling at the TV when you've already got a sore throat, isn't a bright idea. "GET BETTER, all of you"! Hugs!! Suzie Yes Ma'm! Swansong
Hi everyone! Just an update about my hubby. Ever since early November, my hubby has had a lot of soreness in his upper thighs, especially the left one. At first it was a real mystery as to what was causing the pain, but as the condition kept worsening throughout the winter, he realized that what was causing the pain was the seat in his company assigned truck. It's old and beat up and the driver's seat has no suspension. During that ridiculously frigid week where temperatures here in Portland were in the lower teens, he had a 3 hour drive down to Eugene in that poorly heated truck, and he was bobtailing, so with no weight on the back end, he bumped miserably the whole way, and his legs absorbed the shock to his body. Since then, he's complained a number of times, asking them to have the seat repaired but they didn't. Also, there WERE other trucks he could have driven, but those were given to other drivers. Finally, over the last two weeks this condition has gotten so bad that the poor man could barely get up out of bed. And in order to get his legs up into the truck, in bed, or in the car, he literally had to manually pick them up with his hands. Well of course he is a stubborn male and he kept putting off going to the doctor. Why? Because number one: he didn't want to miss time at work and number 2, he kept thinking he would get better. Well as you know he was fired from that job last Friday, so after watching him suffer all through the night last night, I put my foot down this morning and made an appt for him today. He went! Thank God! The diagnosis: He has a groin pull, and it's a bad one! And here he has been going to work in pain since November. The doctor filled out the paperwork filing a claim with worker's comp, and he wrote down his diagnosis on the form. He also indicated that Bill's injury was caused by lack of shock absorption in the seat! Bill's grievance meeting is tomorrow, and he's still going to try and get his job back. At this point I think he has a good case against the company. I can't tell you how relieved I am to know the cause of his pain, and not just pain but severe muscle weakness. I am very hopeful that with some physical therapy, he'll recover! Oh, and for the first time in my life, in honor of Holly, I WATCHED the Superbowl and rooted for the SAINTS! I don't understand a thing about the scoring, but it was an exciting game! I'm so thrilled for New Orleans. This is a much needed boost for their economy and their spirit! Sorry for those of you who are contending with wild winter weather. We had almost a Spring day today, and it was delightful! Something else Bill and I did today: we got our Swine Flu shots. The last thing either of us need is to get that awful virus. There's has been a story in the news about a guy in Seattle who got the Swine flu and was so ill he went into a coma. He's come out of it now, but he lost 40 lbs! My gosh, if my Bill lost 40 lbs he would disappear. I'm really glad we did it. One less thing to worry about. Take care, everyone! givemeabeach
Andrea, I'm glad the boys are home safe. I hope you are feeling better sooooooon! Take this, "creepin' crud"! Swannie, I'm so glad Bill went to the doctor. It's a wonderful relief just knowing what going on physically. It's good to know that Bill will be able to get physical therapy to help the injury. Sending prayers for healing. "The diagnosis: He has a groin pull, and it's a bad one! And here he has been going to work in pain since November. I'm keeping his grievance meeting on my prayer list, asking for support and whatever Bill and you need in this situation. Elissa, I hope you are feeling better very soon. Suzie, thank you for the link to the Photo-to-Throws. Hope you had a great time at lunch with your high school friends. Delene, burrrrr, that is way too cold. . . glad you've got a doggy blanket. givemeabeach
FYI: Please remember Susan (Susan~Sporran) in your prayers. . . As Swannie said, its been a 'sad week' here at GALS. . . for many of our Members. Linda
Swansong
Bill won his case! After he made his appeal to the grievance committee, they met with the boss to discuss their opinion of the situation and then the boss called Bill into his office, where he was told that he had been reinstated. He starts back to work tomorrow and was promised one of the better trucks as well as lighter hours while his body heals. One of the qualities I have ALWAYS admired about my husband is his honesty and integrity. In this case, those qualities won the day! Also, as some of you know, Bill has been editing my book. I've had a chance to just read through the entire 1st book The Bleeding Rose, and I am so amazed with the work he has done and how it has improved my writing. Of course we work together and I have the final say on any changes, and I do sometimes 'override' his revisions, but the story itself is coming together so tight and enjoyable to read! What a man! Beachie, I ave been praying for both Susan's and Moira's loss. Last night I read Moira's update in her prayer thread and just cried my eyes out, and now Susan has lost her dad too. I'm so thankful that we GALS do lean on each other in times like this. Swannie

irish
Swannie, that's wonderful....but I hope Bill still puts in a compensation claim (even if he goes back and doesn't take time off of work now) but just in case he has continuing problems or God forbid they should get worse (I know I'm being rather cynical here but it could very well be part of the reason they have decided to take Bill back).....they know that Bill has a very VERY legitimate case and you only have so long to file a claim before by law you can't... Thayna, have I welcomed you to the SC yet? If I have, forgive me...the mind is one of the first to go they say...and if not, !!! Do you have PayPal? That I found it the best way for me to transfer money. Elissa, are you feeling better today? You too Andrea. Susan, I know I've already left a message in the thread for you and your dad...but hon, Anna, my sweet friend. I will send you an email this evening when all my "chores" are done.
