GBPhanatic
Yesterday, I had planned on seeing The Bounty Hunter again during the time that T was in a late class at the University but it started too late so even though he wanted to see this with me, I saw HTTYD in 3D by myself and I was blown away! I laughed, I cried, I teared up, it was one of the most visually stunning, heart captivating movies that I have seen in a long while! Talk about the "aw" factor mixed with the "awesome" factor, I kept saying to myself, "this is really an amazing movie"! The moral basis for this was so moving, well told and so touching that I was proud that Gerry, as well as his buddy Craig, were a part of it! The music was wonderful with a celtic tone to it. It was able to deliver the message that we so often judge first, before we have an understanding of character and the reasons behind the behaviors of all creatures, human or animal, and tend to act on old, outmoded, preconceived notions instead of considering compassion, acceptence and a "live and let live" attitude! I was so moved by this movie! I haven't seen Avatar yet but I've heard rumblings that this movie may just well exceed it. It was awesome! Paisleyscot
Reviews from HTTYD are looking Brilliant! Read more HERE. Kid stuff ? Maybe. But How to Train Your Dragon, from the book by Cressida Cowell, works enough miracles of 3-D animation to charm your socks off! More HERE. How to Train Your Dragon is by far the best DreamWorks Animation film to date. I don’t know if it will be their highest grossing (probably not because it doesn’t have “Shrek” in the title) or if it will sell the most toys (the main dragon is pretty darn cute), but it’s easily the best movie I’ve seen from the company. I find too often that their films rely on getting the most famous celebrities as the voices and having most the jokes be puns or pop-culture references. How to Train Your Dragon tells the simple boy-and-his-dragon story and then carries you away with likable characters and exhilarating action
phoenixgirl
Doesn't surprise me at all. It was a fabulous movie. Not just for kids. I hope Gerry and everyone else involved makes a boatload of money!!!
Melodie
Fantastic! I haven't seen it just yet, but I plan to with my aunt next week. It's wonderful to see the critics jumping on this with high acclaim like it deserves, I already love it and I've only seen trailers and shorts! It's no wonder Gerry and everyone involved is so proud of this movie. They really worked hard and they deserve all the praise they can get! Texas gramma
I loved the movie! Story and other characters aside, I naturally zoomed in on Gerry's character. It is stunning how you can see our Gerry shining through in Stoick's mannerisms. He even has Gerry's beautiful eyes! That all helped to make this charming story even more fun for me! The movie is really a must see for anyone with kids, teens or adults in the household. It has a wonderful story line and we can all learn from it. I'm seeing it again tomorrow - I can't wait! Suzie Oh, be careful of your left sock if there are any trolls around!

GBPhanatic
Oh, be careful of your left sock if there are any trolls around! This was funny! Perhaps it was because he only had a left leg to put a sock on! Delene
Caledonia Soul
I just saw this movie and I loved it! I laughed, cried, and enjoyed the action. The music was very good too, it seemed to have a celtic theme and the war pipes were very good. I loved listening to the brogue of both Stoick and Gobber. Gerry's voice was perfect for Stoick and gave the right amount of sternness and caring when needed. AND the DRAGONS! What interesting creatures and so colorful! I loved the artwork, the dragons, the viking ships, the village houses and the tall stacks in the sea. Yes, Gerry's eyes shown through his character,as well as his gleaming teeth. The audience broke into spontaneous clapping at the end. The 3-D was fascinating, I haven't seen this type of movie for ages, and I loved it. I'll definitely be seeing this movie a few more times and will buy the DVD when it becomes available.
Rendita
I saw the movie for the 2nd time today and you definitely see Gerry in the eyes and so many of Stoick's gestures. I experienced the same as you Caledonia Soul. Many in the audience were clapping at the end. I was so surprised, because that is just not something you see often. Sounds like it's off to a great start for the weekend!
Swansong
My Billy felt well enough to get out of the house today, so we saw HTTYD. I adored it and smiled through the entire thing! I liked it much better than Avatar. It was everything I love in a movie and it has a great story! When we got there a half hour before showtime, there was already a line of folks waiting to get into the theater. It was packed, but people just kept pouring in. The audience was full of kids and parents, and it was so much fun to hear the kids laugh and comment. When we came back out after the show, the line was even longer for people waiting to get into the next showing! Gerry's vocal performance was perfect, and yes I could see him in Stoick's character. There was applause at the end, and my hubby immediately started talking about what a great movie it was. Swannie
Texas gramma
Those of you who are Doctor Who fans, were you able to pick out David Tennant's voice in HTTYD? He played a character named Spitelout. I'm assuming he has big eyes like David. One of the "teenagers" is Snoutlout and I'm assuming David did the voice of his father. I'm glad I'm seeing the movie again tomorrow and I'll have a chance to pick him out - I was so focused on Gerry's and Craig's voices, I sort of blocked out the secondary characters. shirsan
I sat through two showings of IMAX HTTYD today. It was the best kid's movie I've seen since ET. Gerry was magnificient as Stoick, his real personally shown through beautifully in many places, and Stoick definitely had Gerry's eyes. I could see Craig in Gobber also. I was disappointed that the Hiccup character, Gay Barachel got top billing. Gerry and Craig were much better character representations, but I guess Hiccup is the real story. The theater about half full at the 12:30 showing, but the 2:30 showing was jam packed. Both showings had people clapping, and laughing. Very loud applause at the end. My heart sang with glee over the reaction. If this does not receive the oscar for animated film next year I'm going to be convinced that Hollywood is singling Gerry out for some reason. This movie is FANNYDAMTASTIC, to say the very least. I was not surprised to see many adults without kids with them also. That is GREAT. I will see this certainly see this again, even if I can't afford it. Like I always say, Gerry never disappoints me, and he has every reason to be very, very proud of this project. Continuing to love him absolutely, Sandy
Lady Elissa
I loved it too. I really saw Gerry's eyes and many of his mannerisms in Stoick. Of course, Gerry's voice and accent are I enjoyed Craig Ferguson's part as well. The animation is excellent! I'll be seeing it again next week because my daughter also wants to see it. Andrea~mc
I saw HTTYD today. Loved it! Loved the music, loved the story line. You could totally pick up Gerry's mannerisms in the animated character.I saw it in 3D which was very cool,it was the first movie in 3D I've ever seen.(yes seriously) Only down side,I can't remember which interview but Gerry mentioned,it was more a movie for older kids and I'm afraid he's absolutely right.Parenting magazine rated this for ages 4+ and I disagree with Parenting and agree with Gerry instead. One reason I went to see it was I wanted to see it first before I took my near 4 yr old to see it(he'll be 4 in a month)and I'm glad I checked it out first, there are some bits in the movie that could scare a little kid.So I'm going to wait till it comes out on DVD so I can skip past the scarey parts so the boys can still see it. But all in all,I am a big fan of HTTYD.
