cybrsal
Lady Macbeth, Waiting by the gorilla with my friends and family at Starbucks I met your family. I don't expect you to remember me amongst all the other fans. It was actually your husband that approached me and ask if we were in the right place, (at the right gate.) Give your daughter a big hug for me catching the Hard Rock Cafe moment on video. The waiting is so worth it when we are all in it together. I hope I run into you again at another event. It really is fun putting faces on the GAL's names. I think we were very lucky to have that time with Gerry knowing the chaos and changes that took place. Gerry is amazingly generous to his fans. The whole experience was grand! Our group had a couple of 12 year olds on this trip for their first time. It worked out for them as well. It was all good. I have never met Gerry, myself. I like to stay back and watch him work through the crowds. He is like poetry in motion...one day... Sally

Sally I do remember you and I'm really glad you ladies were wearing "HTTYD" shirts -- it was hard to miss that when we first got shuttled off to that gate. My husband is good at recon and less shy than I am so he didn't hesitate in chatting you up. I like to stand back and watch everything too. I still can't believe I actually spoke to Gerry and didn't even hesitate! But I was so focused on getting my cap signed that I was much more determined than nervous or awed. That still makes me laugh when I watch the video and I'm glad I at least asked nicely before I shoved the thing at him! My husband has a longer video on his camera but it's one of those old mini-tape things so he has to convert it to DVD, which always takes him forever. He's taller than Sara so the angle is better and he walked back and forth to get every moment like a TMZ cameraman. Maybe he'll give me the DVD for Mother's Day. Sigh. We went to Hawaii after that and it seemed really anticlimactic.

heathermck
Steph what a great story! I can't believe I managed to miss him in Glasgow last week! So far...my closest has been sitting in the cinema for the LAC premier in Glasgow and my camera ran out of battery I did take a video on my phone but it wasn't the greatest quality! Maybe one day I'll get myself to some event and actually get to speak to him! xx
Christine ONeal
That was an excellent story Steph. It so makes me want to meet Gerry so bad it's not funny. I've had a bit of practice meeting a few celebrities already(all five members of Def Leppard-multiple times, Vince Gill, and Criss Angel) but meeting Gerry would be the best one ever since he's probably one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. I do plan to travel to LA for the premiere of Coriolanus and even if meeting the Scottish God doesn't happen, I would still have an amazing time just being in that atmosphere and meeting a bunch of GALS who have already become fast friends(namely you Steph, Lisa and Tracy, Rebecca, Jennifer, RaeLynn, Cheryl, etc.) and took me in even though I'm a late comer to appreciating(better late) than never. Everyone here on the forum have been awesome and I consider myself one lucky GAL to be in such great company.
AbandonThought
Heather, that's still a pretty friggin' awesome thing; to be sitting in the theatre for the LAC premiere with Gerry there! I hope you catch him out there someday in the future and do get to have a few words with the man! Awww, thanks Christine! I can't wait to meet you out in LA for Coriolanus. I'm officially hooked, so I'll be there!! And it's truthfully so much more than just Gerry that I'm hooked on... I'm hooked on the excitement, the fandom, and the wonderful women who come out to support Gerry! I was truly blown away by how sweet and welcoming everyone was to me. And I was in your position just a year ago Christine, and in that short year I made some real friendships, took a giant leap, and as you all read, it totally paid off! I can't describe the amount of fun I had with the gals in LA. I haven't laughed that hard or that much in years! Thanks again for the continuing compliments on my little write-up of my fan encounter. I just printed it out for my journal, and I re-read it, and it was like living it all over again. I'm never going to get over those moments! Trip of a lifetime!! Christine ONeal
Heather, how did you get a ticket to the LAC premiere? Invitation only? Buy it? Win it? That would be cool to be one of the first to see a movie and also have the star in the cinema as well. I wanted to see it when I saw the ads cuz it looked like a killer movie(pardon the pun) but was too chicken to see it in the dark. When I saw it last month, I'm glad I didn't see it in the dark....Besides I would be yelling "Oh sh*t! or "WTF" a lot. LOL
heathermck
Christine I went onto the cineworld website to see what I could find out and I noticed they had a public screening on the same night. So I bought tickets. It said that it was a public screening to be introduced by Gerry. My husband convinced me that there would probably be a pre-recorded message or something...but no, he walked right into our cinema and introduced the film. He stayed for about 10 minutes talking about the film and the crowd started singing happy birthday. My wee ticket in my picture though was given to me by a friend who actually got to go to the party afterwards. Some people just have all the luck eh! xx

phoenixgirl
Steph, This has been a pleasure to read - and relive. I caught the end of your meeting at Hard Rock. The look on your face was priceless. It brings a smile, reading this and remembering the happy afternoon. Lisa - You embody a kindness & sharing spirit that is refreshing. It's not always the case in crazy situations. May your caring example be a model. Dawn Dawn, forgive me for just seeing this now. I haven't been receiving my subscription notifications so please forgive me. But for your "notsosureIdeservethem" kind words. This past year I have decided that I want fans who have never had the opportunities I have to be able to meet Gerry or at least see him in the flesh. Dayna is right in that there are no guarantees and I have been truly blessed, and I am more than happy to have been able to share this with my Girlies. The look on Steph's face was priceless, and I think she smiled the next four days. LOL I hope that next time you'll be there again and we can all get to each other better. Kalyn
It sounds like you had an amazing trip. And meeting Gerry on top of all the other fun stuff...can't beat that! I have a always thought it would be fun to go to a tapping of a talk show like that. I'm a super nervous person in just regular normal circumstances, and I am terrified that if I was ever lucky enough to meet Gerry (or any other celebrity that I admire so much) that I would pass out (or worse) and make a huge fool out of myself. I so admire people who can be so cool and calm in those situations. Kalyn
Guest
man, i wish i could meet or talk to gerard . too bad i couldnt because i dont have the time or money to do that. I wish i could give him one of my finished phantom of the opera drawings in person. But maybe sometime i can go and meet with you gals. If i were to see Gerard standing right in front of me, or if he were to talk me or anything else, i would probably have a anxiety attack but if i had someone with me, i will be okay Edited May 3, 2010 by Guest

Shamrocked
Oh Steph, I love your poem, the new siggy with the happy, dazed, loving, speechless expression on your face! I just popped over for a look and wow I will have to come back tomorrow to read all this you shared cause it's very late here now (lol, as you well know if you are in NC now). midnightchris
Steph, both your story and your poem are great! Not to mention the sig, which is great evidence of your wonderful Gerry moment! I don't know if I could utter a word in his presence so your presence of mind was remarkable! But then again, I don't have to worry too much about anything like this ever happening to me - my own best chance to meet Gerry was while he was shooting for Coriolanus in neighbouring Serbia (I didn't take it, unfortunately). He almost got to shoot for C. in Bucharest (my hometown and capital of Romania), but I missed my chance because Ralph Fiennes chose Belgrade over Bucharest for the filming ("Bucharest was too much Ceausescu", quote from the "full-metal Coriolanus" article - Ceausescu was our former dictatorial president). So, I'm content watching Gerry from a distance and learning his whereabouts here, at Gals. for sharing your wonderful experience with us! midnightchris
You're right, Steph, you never know! Let us hope for better things! Let us hope that he comes to Romania, falls in love with the place and buys a property here, just like Prince Charles did! Yeah, when ! Isn't that wishful thinking?
