What a Great Time - Share your thoughts

Recommended Posts

I think this might be the first time I ever stated a new topic, so if I did something wrong, please let me know. I just wanted to express what a wonderful time I had, again, at the fan convention. Everyone was so nice, the decorations were beautiful, the entertanment was fantastic, Reno was adorable and Gerry is the most gracious and generous of men. I have to say that what I will remember most is the time I spent at the Shade Tree. I hope we raised tons of money for them. What Marlene does is inspiring and I can't wait to go back again next year. Well done everyone!

Thanks for this thread and sharing your experiences with us. I was a Virtual Con-er and enjoyed every minute with you all that was so generously shared by Holly and all who made Virtual Con possible for us back home. We had a lot of fun too! :D We cheered, and laughed and cried right along with our fellow GALS and PALS at the GB LV convention. :music:

This was my first convention also. I wholeheartedly agree with Sara's post. What a lovely time, with wonderful women, for such an immensely worthy cause. I don't think there was a dry eye in the place when Marlene R. got up to speak or when the video about the Shade Tree was shared or when she was awarded the 2010 Rising Phoenix Award. Marlene has truly earned the name "Angel". She & her people have helped so many women get out of destructive, abusive situations, regain their dignity, create a positive, nurturing environment for them, their children & pets! to heal in. God has sent these women who were suffering one of his Angels thru The Shade Tree organization.

So good to hear the Virtual Con attendees had as wonderful of a time as we who were fortunate enough to attend did!!! I mentioned several times to people that I hoped the virtual con would get bigger & better each year, so that those that couldn't be there in person would feel as if they were right there along side all their fellow GALS & PALS in Vegas.

I'll stop here. I could go on & on about this wonderful event & the Shade Tree organization, but I know there are other "voices" out here that speak more eloquently and are able to express themselves more concisely than I'll ever be able.

Linda, I also hope next year will be your time, and I'll look forward to meeting you then!

As always, the convention was wonderful...full of good stuff and good friends, united in a good cause, and it just doesn't get any better than that! I am so very happy that we have added the Shade Tree visits to our schedule each year...it makes me more appreciative than ever of the relatively easy life I lead and more wanting to do what I can to help those who need our support...thanks GALS, and see you next year!

As always, I had a great time, and thanks Sara for starting this thread! And again, as always, there were technical difficulties to weather :) Although I think we're getting better at taking care of them! I loved interacting not only with those there, but a little with those attending via virtual con! Loves to you all!

This was my fourth con and only for health issues would have been my fifth, ah well that's in the past!

I make a point of saving and planning each July to get my arse to Vegas if it kills or bankrupts me, why would anyone do that I hear you ask? Just go and you'll understand,

I have met people who I may not talk too for a whole year and it literally feels like I just went to sleep on the last night of the con and woke up the first day of the next con and we all resume our chats. I think what I'm trying to say is there are no expectations on anyone, you just go and be you for however many days, never judged for being a fan or pressured into doing anything you'd rather not( you know how friends and family get, sometimes you wanna say f* ck off and leave me alone)

It truely is a great experience, this year I chatted with peeps I usually just say hi too ( Deb, Sherrell & Sally xx) met new people ( ReNo,Cassie, Becks & Di) and hung out with my Gals ( you know who you are mhuah too many to name)

I hope everyone enjoyed the Gutter Gab, you are all awesome students( Raz I saw, bless)

I really hope next year people decide to come and do it for themselves, if you are on your own and don't know anyone room with people great way of breaking the ice plus safe trust me, nobody messes with Gals :)

Anyone this Con rocked, we raised a packet and it's geared me up for next year!

Hugs and Snogs

Snap is right. The convention is worth every penny and more! This was also my 4th convention. After each one, I start planning for next year on the plane home! :)

I had a fabulous time! It was great seeing everyone again, and as usual, I made some new friends too. I really enjoyed volunteering at the Shade Tree, and look forward to doing that again.

ReNo was a real sweetheart! :wuv:

Loved, loved, loved Gerry's phone call! :D

My sister(GerrysGalwayGirl) and I will be coming along with Tammy(GerrysOklaGirl) to next year's convention. I really look forward to being in Vegas with a big group of people instead of just me and Kelley. Honestly I think it will be an excellent way to keep me out of the casinos. I still will have to do some studying at night since I'll be attending college but since my classes are all online I won't miss school. In addition to GALS events, I look forward to going to the CSI Experience at the MGM Grand(I am a Criminalistics major after all) and see a show(Jersey Boys at Palazzo or Terry Fator at the Mirage). It's gonna be a blast!

Thanks for starting this topic Sara! You did great for your first time!

I agree with Snap, Raz, Elissa and all that YOU ALL MUST DO YOUR BEST TO COME! Oh sorry did I yell? :pointy:

Vegas needs to be experienced with GALS! You make instant friendships that go beyound words.

I can't wait for the Con to roll around every year and meet up with old friends and new!

It's a time to let down your hair and hang with some of the best people you'll ever meet.

I'm so glad that you all had such a great time with the Virtual Con as well. The Mods that handled it really rocked!

ReNo was so sweet and generous with his time, and many photo ops.

Gerry showed us once again why we love him so much with his generosity.

To my girlies, Love Ya big Time!

Celine the Gutter Gab was once again a highlight of the trip.

Mel you rock the Audio/Video portion of the con!

Holly and Binks well done on the FB Twitter lessons!

One last horray to the best roomies ever!!! Raz, Binks, Bex, Di... :metoyou:

'til next year

I just want to thank again all the people responsible for

the Virtual Con. I felt like I was genuinely a part of the

festivities even though I am 3000 miles away in NC.

Thanks to Holly for asking ReNo our chat questions.

I feel I made new friends just chatting during the con.

Love to all who make this site possible and let me

air my love and appreciation for the wonderful

creature Gerry Butler. He has been a real shot in

the arm for me over the years. I seem to love and

admire him more every day and support this site

with all my heart.

Love him absolutely,

Sandy

I had a lovely time at the convention. It is fun to be with a bunch of passionate women who all love Gerry, but it goes way beyond that. It really is hard to describe what takes place in a large decorated room full of delightfully intelligent, creative, artistic, hard working, funny, beautiful kindred spirits.

Everyone is friendly and wants to put faces to the names we see all year long online, (who licked, spit on, smoked bunches of 17 inch cigarettes, typed all night, pray for each other shared pictures and articles about Gerry, made siggys, wallpapers and AVI's, mandoll lovers, chickens from the Hen house, siggy piggys, and went below the panty line to the gutters, role players,, I mean the whole gambit. It is awesome, let me tell you. When we leave, we not only have faces, we have developed friendships who want to come back again and again.

I came home with a sore jaw from laughing so hard for so long. I had a few blisters from all the walking we did on free time. I am happy to say, I earned them. Some of us met before the convention started and enjoyed the Vegas life, seeing POTO on stage, dining with Kings at Excalibur, (too bad they couldn't afford silverware, *chuckles*), finding money on the casino floor, and walking the strip with all its glory. Some told stories of other shows, and pool side encounters. I can't even begin to share all the experiences in Vegas and the fun conversations with the cab drivers. You have to experience it yourself and tell your own stories.

I've only touched the surface, because I haven't even mentioned the work they put us through...dressing up, planning our strategies on the raffles and auctions, racking our brains at all the workshops. (*snorts* so much fun and packed full of information) Then, they put us to work with The Shade Tree. What an amazing treat that was, followed by a Gerry movie, LAC.

Oh yeah, we had guests as you know, ReNo from LAC in a kilt, (ooo lala, oh that's french, what would be a good phrase, Snap, in Gaelic?) and our Angel, Marlene from The Shade Tree, (talk about inspiring and full of Grace and humble generosity) I can go on and on, but I would rather discuss it all next year at the convention 2011 with you all in person and create new ones, ok?

The whole bundle is quite an experience packed full of great memories to keep with you. I think you owe it to yourself to come see what it is all about. I know the economy is rough, that's why we save our pennies starting right now.

For those who were there and shared in all the fun, I tip my hat and say, "Lets do it all again next year! WooHoo! (throws hat up in the air)

I love you guys, sending big hugs,

Sally
