Gerry attending the Broadway Musical "Memphis" last night. Attached is a brief article & several photos with the cast.

There are some great smiles in there, which makes me happy. :)

Movie fans know Gerard Butler as the no-nonsense star of 300 and Law Abiding Citizen (his guy films) as well as P.S. I Love You and The Bounty Hunter (his gal films). Oh yeah, and he also played the title role in the 2004 film adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera! But on October 26, the Scottish-born hunk was just another Broadway fan as he took in a performance of the Tony-winning musical hit Memphis. After the show, an enthusiastic Butler headed backstage at the Shubert Theatre to congratulate the cast and pose for a few snapshots.

OMG! I love the curls! :drool1:

I so want to visit NYC...probably be about 3 years before I make it there, but it's gonna happen. I'm even checking into taking some law classes at NYU during the summer sessions (about 3 months). That would be super cool. :lighter:

I wanna' be at a Dreamworks DVD party in NYC tonight for HTTYD!!!

I'm guessing "Memphis" was fantastic. The last time I was in NYC I was at the Shubert Theatre to see "Chicago" and it was incredible. It's a lovely, intimate theatre. No Gerard Butlers were there when I saw "Chicago"...I have such poor timing!

I just cannot understand how this man keeps functioning with as many places as he has to be from one day to the next. I get tired just hearing about it.

How lovely to see him attending some good theatre while he's in NYC...best theatre in the world imo. I was there over the summer and saw "Promises, Promises" at the Broadway Theatre and it was superb. I've heard excellent things about "Memphis" as well, it was a very big contender at the Tony's this year. I miss New York,I wish I could visit more. But I am glad to see him enjoying himself. :)

I can understand Gerry spending more time in NYC than he does in LA (having lived in LA for three years while going to UCLA back in the late 70's)...and I know it has grown/improved since then...but still, there is so much more to do in NYC, the theater, socialilte parties, benefits out the wazoo, the restaurants are so upscale and fabulous there, just sitting at an outdoor cafe, watching the people is entertainment in itself, the museums, art galleries, Greenwich Village, The Bowery, Times Square, Broadway, there if far more to do and far more "color" in NYC than in LA...LA is just 99% movie industry, and not a whole lot else. They have plays, and good restaurants, but their nightlife consists mostly of clubs and the Hollywood/actor bunch...whereas NYC is a melting pot of everything, and just a more interesting place to be. And the paparazzi are not "quite" as tenacious and annoying as they are in LA. Given the choice, I certainly would choose NYC over LA...it's just a "funner" place (I know that's not a word, but I like it...)....

Before anyone jumps at me thinking I am criticizing or downing Los Angeles, I'm not at all. LA has it's attributes, but there just seems to be more of a diversity of things to do in NYC as opposed to LA. More choices of places to go, people to see, things to do. LA has a lot, but I think NYC has more. LA's focus is mainly on the movie business, NYC's focus is on everything....

Peace, out....

I saw La Cage Aux Folles with Kelsey Grammer at the Longacre in August and it was fantastic!

I love New York City and I remember the first time I was there. I figured it would be a nice place to visit at least one time but had no idea I'd get hooked! I remember thinking to myself, "Everybody's here in New York City!" and it sure seems that way! I just fell in love with Central Park! I so envy those of you who live there or even just a couple of hours away!

Gerry's obviously missed the city and he's doing all the things he loves to do there and he's got his favorite little girl with him too.

Amen to all of the above.

It is so good to see him enjoying himself. He looks like he is having such a good time.

I would love to see this musical, I'll bet the music is out of this world.

His hair is just now getting to the stage where it is curling nicely, like in Timeline. Love it that way,

I just can't help wondering why he hasn't cut it. Please let it be "Burns" Lord. Please!!!!!!

I know we would probably have heard something by now if he were going to start filming Burns anytime

soon but I just keep praying, it would be such a perfect time with his hair the right length and all.

Love him absolutely,

Sandy

I didn't when I was his age. I worked all day and danced all night.

More power to him while he is young and healthy, he should do everything he wants to do, has time to do,

and can afford to do. He can stay home when he is old and to tired to do anything else, and then he can

look back on all the wonderful things he did and all the fun he had when he was young and healthy.

:whome2:

Yes, gorgeous, you.

Love seeing him having fun. The world is his oyster right now and I love seeing him enjoy it.

Love him absolutely,

Sandy

How do you find these things out, Moira?

It's a great place to be if you have someone who knows their way around. I've been twice, once on a business

trip with the company I worked for. The people I was with knew almost nothing, and we had very little time

for anything but work. I did go to the top of the Empire State Building at night and watched it snow

up instead of down. I thought about that when I watched One More Kiss and she talked about the wind, etc.

The other time I was a naive young girl from the Bible Belt on my first trip in the music industry and spent the

entire 4 days astonished and/or terrified. I saw all the worst of NYC, the drugs, hookers in the lobby of the

Waldorf, etc. I also saw a man get stabbed in front of me in Greenwich Village and no one stopped to help

him, I was pushed on and told to keep quiet-TERRIFIED. I also so the Ed Sullivan theater and met Tina Turner,

and her crazy husband Ike, Dianna Ross, Bobby Goldsboro, and many executives of Uni Records, Capital Records, and

Universal Studios. Those were the guys who owned half the world and walked around in the Waldorf in

T-shirts and green jeans, like they didn't have a dime. I walked around Time Square at two in the morning and

saw people selling "genuine jade jewlry" from the Jade company. HAHA. Had cocktails at Rockafella Center and

saw St. Patrick's Cathedral. I stayed on the 27th floor of the Waldorf and it looked like the world was outside

that window.

Gerry lives in a marvelous city, and knows his way around, and can be with the best people and eat at the

finest restaurants, etc. I see his attraction. And, like me at the time, he has people around him to protect

him so he can enjoy it.

I've been to LA once. It was a beautiful city in the 70's, especially from Mulholland Drive. The city is literally

laid out at your feet like a blanket of lights, but Disneyland closed at 5:00 and I am allergic to the sun, so I

missed one of CA's greatest attractions. LAX was a nightmare and the word was not to go out alone after

dark. Gerry has a home and friends in LA so he probably sees more to it than I did.

The world is Gerry's playground right now. He is so lucky to live in this time and be so intelligent and talented.

He can enjoy all the world. I am so happy for him.

Can't wait for tomorrow for more pics.

Love him absolutely,

Sandy
