We wish you could be here too, Karin, along with all the others who love POTO and love an opportunity to do some good in conjunction with a great dinner, great company as a lead in to once again seeing the movie in all its glory on the big screen!!

JUST FOUR WEEKS TO GO!!

:donjuan: no, don't keep it quiet, let everyone know!

:erik: don't be left behind, or you'll be very sad!

:phantom: his mere look beckons us to visit his lair

:reddeath2: he wants YOU to be there!

:reddeath: a pointed reminder

:phantom2: you may be brokenhearted if you miss it!

Thanks for welcoming me Susan; actually I can´t wait to meet some of you GALS in a further 2012 event... I´ve missed so many "Gerry" moments in 2011, unfortunately due to the curse my life has taken this year. From 2012 on things will be back on track, and I´ll be able to travel and see Gerry somewhere, as well as meeting some of you GALS/GUYS. You seem to be such a great bunch to hang around and have fun with. Meanwhile, I wish everyone attending 2011 events the best of times!!

Love from Brazil,

Karin

Thank you is not enough...but here goes...to Martha, Lori, Andy, Janis and anyone and everyone who worked to make the Vista Theater a wonderland of Phantom Happiness...Seeing this glorious film on the big screen is always as moving and gorgeous and amazing as it was the very first time we saw it on opening night in December of 2004...and every Redux since then has been an absolute *joy*. Martha, you never fail to amaze me and I love you and thank you with all my heart.

To each and every person who attended the Phantom Pheast, to all who bought raffle tickets, to all the wonderful people who donated the goodies for our raffle, to Veronica who always blows our mind with her amazing goodie bags (and a Phabulous new hairdo for the evening as well :woot: ), to Sarahkitty and Mom, Sarah B,Cheryl and Sherrell for keeping me from losing my mind entirely (LOL) with all of your help in making our Pheast beautiful: You totally Rock~!!!!...to my sister Tamara for your magical touches on all of the raffle goodies (I missed you more than words could ever say) and last but certainly not least, to Susan...my best friend, my hero and the hardest working person who ever lived...the Phantom Pheast is what it is because of *YOU*. Thank you so much to *all* for sharing such a wonderful evening with all of us. The best thing of all is doing our utmost for the City of Hope and Trees for Life... and it all started with *Gerry* who inspired us to give as he gives and to remember always that We are All Connected.

As I said, thank you is not enough...but, my heart is overflowing with gratitude and I wanted to share how much this amazing event has blessed my life.

Much much love, xoxoxoxCheri

The night was wonderful, as always. HUGE :ty: to everyone who helped put everything together and make the night PHANTASTIC. The biggest :thankyou: to Susan and Cheri who work so hard to put everything together for us to have a wonderful night filled with Phantomy gifts, the cake and a great time, and to everyone who provided the great raffle gifts. I'm sure we raised a nice amount for the charities, and that's the important part of the event.

I do have to say that I wish we were in a restaurant that accommodated us in one room. We weren't really able to mingle and talk to other fans, etc. Having one table in the middle and then the rest of us put in the booths makes it less of a fan event and more like just a dinner. Perhaps Shin (I bet Simon would love having us) or another place could be looked into for next year? Don't get me wrong, it was a great evening. It just would have been nicer to get a chance to talk to other people, and being in the booths don't allow for any mingling - and neither does our little corner even if we did walk around. Also, it's very difficult to hear who wins which raffles when Susan has to be all over the space instead of being able to be at the table with the gifts. Such a shame the Garden closed, but I know there are other restaurants that would better accommodate our needs. :)

This is just a suggestion, not a criticism at all. :metoyou: I love the Phantom Pheast so no matter where it is I'll be there ... but I think a better time would be had by all, especially those who have never been to one and would like to meet other people than the ones we already talk to. :)

See you all on November 10, 2012 - no matter what.

Lisa

Thanks Lisa, I appreciate your input. I know this year was less spacious than in the past, when we had the entire back of the restaurant to ourselves (but there were still people in the booths those years - and we had booths at The Gardens as well). We only had 22 people this year, and I'm sure everyone saw how completely packed the restaurant was. For a Saturday night at a busy Beverly Hills restaurant it is hard for them to give up all the tables that we can't use because we don't have enough people to fill them - plus we purposely select from the more reasonably priced entrees in order to keep the cost low and appealing to more people (we hope). Alex, the manager who has worked with us for 5+ years (first at the Gardens, and now at Kate's), bends over backwards to be as accomodating as the business will bear. One option we could do if we have this size group again is one long table that would make it easier for people to get out and about for mingling. I will definitely keep that in mind for the future to make it more accomodating.

Believe me when the Gardens closed we investigated many different options and most were MUCH more expensive if there was a private room involved, and some also require a guaranteed minimum number of people. Since many of our attendees don't sign up until the last couple of weeks before the event there is no way I could take on the burden of a guaranteed minimum.

I know Simon at Shin would do his best to be accomodating but I'm not sure if he could give up the entire back room for just 22 people on a busy Saturday night either. I wlll keep it in mind when planning for next year begins.

We will be planting 25 more trees in the Phantom Phorest for Trees for Life and contributing $600 to City of Hope from the proceeds of the Pheast. Thank you so much to everyone who bought tickets, everyone who donated items for the raffle, to Cheri for making them so beautiful w/help from Tamara, to Veronica for the great goody bags and to Miss S for all the amazing items including the fabulous shirts and the adorable Gerbears.

Hi Susan.

I know we didn't have as many people this year as we've had in the past. The first Pheast I attended, back in May, 06, we were in Buca De Beppo's in Santa Monica, and the room was totally full! Must have been nearly 100 people in there! Now that we're in a more "regular" restaurant, maybe that's the reason we're not getting as many people at the Pheast. Maybe, if we can hold it at Shin, we might get a bigger group. Shin's is a more special restaurant for all of us. And it would probably be a heck of a lot more fun.

But, still, it was a fun night! And it went by way too fast!! You made the evening really enjoyable. Looking forward to seeing everyone again really soon, I hope!

Rayna

Sadly it looks like Shin won't be an option for us - I just heard that Simon is closing the restaurant permanently.

There are various reasons why we have fewer attendees but the choice of restaurant is probably the least of them - some of the people who used to attend regularly just no longer have the interest in Gerry or his movies that they once did. I know of others who have serious financial problems and could not attend for that reason, so finding a different place that would accomodate us in a private room but at a bigger price tag won't help in that respect. We can't recapture what once was, passion for Phantom and maybe even for Gerry isn't at the level it was back in 2005-2006 and it impacts everything from talk show attendance, movie box office, fan site participation, etc.

For next year we will do more promotion off of the Gerry sites, via Facebook and Twitter. We did a little of that this year but not as much as we probably need to since more people go to those sources now than to fan sites.

I am also open to suggestions of restaurants in the area that have private space, can accomodate our budget and our uncertain number of attendees on a Saturday night, don't require a guaranteed minimum in $$ or attendees, or a large up front deposit, and will provide the customer service that Alex does at Kate's. It's a tough combination to find.
