I come home from work - a hard day of meetings and scrambling to meet deadlines, sit down, have a sip of water, decide that I really need a stiff drink, so logged into GB-GALS - AND I FIND YOUR TOPIC, BARB. Posted Image

Posted Image for my STIFF DRINK! Bless you!

What lovely photos. Thank you Barb! Where do you find this stuff!!???

G looks so relaxed and natural in these shots.

When I saw the photo for a few seconds without reading where they were from, I thought Gerry had had his Thunder Run haircut!!

These pictures are from his NY loft, NOT his LA (Los Feliz) home. In a couple of the pictures, you can see the Hudson River behind him (he's standing on his rooftop garden it looks like. But these are additional pictures from the Architectural Digest shoot and are from his Chelsea Loft in Manhattan, NYC, NOT LA. But they are beautiful pictures, and love the one of him holding the Robert Burns book, undoubtedly, one of his own books on Burns.

FOOTNOTE:

In looking closer at the pictures, they MAY be from the LA/Los Feliz house. I was going mostly by him with the same shirt, jeans, hair and jewelry/bracelets on that he has on in the NYC loft AD picture (the one of him in the chair on the front of the magazine). The pictures could be from LA, but even the interior of the house looks more like the NYC loft than the pictures we have seen of his Los Feliz house. Quite confusing photos here.

I would say it is L.A judging by the palm trees! Also the roof styles.

Actually, looking at the original article, it's possible that Gerry wasn't even THERE for the NY shots. They probably did the cover and the other shots of him separately in L.A and just shot the empty NY appt.

I'm convinced now that they are from LA, not NYC...sorry for jumping to conclusions without thoroughly examining the pictures. Like I said, my main focus was on what he had on, his hair style, etc...being so identical to the loft pic of him sitting in the chair on the front of AD. These are from LA, I realize that now. Again, sorry...my bad...

Barb, where did you find these? I didn't know he did some photos from his LA house for AD! When do these come out? I'd love to see how he decorated his LA house. Seems it's similar to his loft. It's a fearless soul that braves white furniture!

I especially like the one of him with the Robert Burns book, which reminds me.... :watchclock:

Thanks so much, Barb! :goodjob: This made my day! Hopefully we'll get to see more of his house someday.

Oh and Gerry looks pretty damn spectacular too, as usual!

Good points ladies!

I'm thinking frisby is correct - Gerry was photographed in LA and the NYC apartment was photographed separately

Architectural Digest credits:

Photography by Durston Saylor

Portrait by Harry Benson

:detect:

The captions from the photo service say: "Gerard Butler, Architectural Digest, May 1, 2010"

and then the accompanying text: NEW YORK, NY - FEBRUARY 11: Actor Gerard Butler is photographed at home for Architectural Digest on February 11, 2010 in New York City. " and that includes the photos with the background of palm trees, "smog", and terracotta roof! I'm guessing that refers to the AD assignment - not his physical local for the photos, which is very misleading!

I'm also thinking that Gerry's would have similar style elements in both (all?) his personal, permanent living spaces.

So the concensus is Gerry was photographed in his LA house but it was for the AD of his loft in NYC. I could be mistaken but in one photo in my copy of AD, Gerry is seated in a red and gold wingback chair with a mirror behind him and in the reflection of that mirror is the wall of his loft and it's dark beamed ceiling. Unless they photoshopped him there, that looks like it was taken in the loft. I can't imagine why they'd take photos of him out on his balconey which obviously overlooks LA for the NYC loft. It's almost like they took some photos of him and his LA house maybe for consideration too and decided on doing the loft.

No matter where they were taken or for what, this was a great find, Barb! You always find the best Gerry stuff! Thanks so much!

The chair pic is shown as L.A on Harry Benson's site.

He is also from Glasgow!

Just to add my two cents - this is 100% his LA home (not the Malibu house). That's the Los Angeles skyline behind him in this STUNNING picture.

Lisa, did Gerry buy another house in Malibu?

Barb, as always ... you are wonder woman!! Posted Image

hugs,

Sue

Sue, I think Lisa's referring to the house he was leasing in Malibu so he could practice surfing. He said the drive was nearly two hours from his house in the hills so he was renting it for a few months. I don't think he bought the house.

A few months ago. We have quite a few photos from the paparazzi at the house. It's believed, but never confirmed, he's renting it but who knows. We even have an interview that a Dutch interviewer (female with long brown hair - forgot her name) did at the house. It's really beautiful right on the cliffs of Malibu. :)
