becozy
Hollywood stars Will Ferrell, Gerard Butler and Mike Myers are to take on the England team at this year's soccer aid. The Anchorman funnyman and the 300 action hero have signed up for ITV1's celebrity charity football match, joining Austin Powers star Mike, who took part in 2010 in The Rest Of The World team, captained by Welsh Twilight star Michael Sheen. They will face England, led by Soccer Aid devotee Robbie Williams, captaining a team including JLS stars Marvin Humes and Aston Merrygold, Olly Murs, TV presenter Ben Shephard and DJ Jamie Theakston, The Sun reports. The match - in aid of children's charity Unicef - will take place on May 27 at Manchester United's Old Trafford on May 27 and will be broadcast live on ITV1. Robbie will be helping to fend off competition from the Hollywood action men. In 2010 England suffered defeat by the Rest Of The World team, who won 7-6 after a nail-biting penalty shoot-out. FluffyCloud
Dont want to point out that even though he's playing for the English team and he's SCOTTISH but I will anyway. The Scots usually frown upon that. LOL. Wish I wasn't going to be 8 months pregnant at the time or i'd have been right there, it's going to be good knowing he's about a 20minute drive away though! *nodding happily*
pothos
I watched the 2010 match and believe it or not Mike Myers was a fairly decent player. Simon Baker played as did Woody Harrelson who scored the winning penalty despite not knowing what he was supposed to do.

Forbes girl
Looks like Gerry won't be filming in May then. Wish we could see this on TV here in the states. They called Will Ferrell an "action man"??? That's funny! FluffyCloud...It seems like only yesterday you announced you were going to have a baby. The time went fast. I am going to be a Grandma again any day now. ~HUGS~ Kathy
shirsan
All of Gerry's dates are getting confusing. I wonder what has happened to all of the films he is supposed to be filming starting in May. I wish we could view this match. I'd love to see Gerry play for real, and yes, I have Game of Their Lives, but we didn't see a whole lot of Gerry playing, just goal keeping, and we know it was all staged. I wonder if any of the sports channels will carry it. If anyone hears, please pass on the info. Love him absolutely, Sandy

frisby
Thank you Barb! I am so looking forward to this. I loved the Celtic Legends game and it was brilliant watching Gerry play for so long. I bet he is chuffed that Kenny Dalglish is manager. Kenny is a Celtic legend and played for and managed Gerry's beloved club.

It´s a "Timeline" dream, since we´ll be seing Andre Marek & Lord Oliver together, fighting for the same cause!! Wish Bill Connolly (Professor Johnston) could attend (but, he might make the team lose ). This will be so much fun!! Good luck to the fans that are able to be there - WOW Love from Brazil, Karin
