LOS ANGELES – June 25, 2012 –Independent North American distributor FilmDistrict announced today that Elissa Greer has joined the studio as Senior Vice President of Publicity, overseeing the Company's domestic theatrical publicity and promotional campaigns. Greer, a seasoned executive who built her career at the independently oriented New Line Cinema, will report to Christine Birch, FilmDistrict's President of Marketing, who made today's announcement. The hiring of Greer completes the senior executive team working under Birch, a team that shares a wide range of experience, a passion for film, and the desire to build FilmDistrict into a market leader. "I'm thrilled to have someone of Elissa's experience join our team at FilmDistrict," said Birch. "She has built great press and talent relationships throughout her years in the business, and she has a unique understanding of what it takes to build a nimble, aggressive publicity campaign in an ever-changing media landscape. "

Greer stated, "I have always admired Christine and feel privileged be part of the FilmDistrict marketing team under her leadership. I value the company's strategic vision and look forward to building PR campaigns that are both innovative and impactful."

Prior to joining FilmDistrict, Greer most recently served as Executive Vice President of Publicity and Promotion at New Line Cinema where she oversaw national publicity campaigns, talent relations, special events, field marketing and specialized outreach for both the New York and Los Angeles departments. During her tenure at New Line, she worked on films including SEX AND THE CITY, HAIRSPRAY, ELF, THE NOTEBOOK, and THE LORD OF THE RINGS franchise. She began her career at New Line in 1992 as the Director of Field Publicity and Promotions. After New Line, Greer worked as an independent publicity consultant on such projects including BULLY, ME AND ORSON WELLES, and the Academy Award® nominated PRECIOUS.

Last month FilmDistrict bolstered its marketing department by hiring Tracy Pollard as Senior Vice President of Creative Advertising, Brad Goldberg as Senior Vice President of Media, and Anna Baxter as Senior Vice President of Digital Marketing.

Upcoming FilmDistrict releases include LOOPER starring Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Emily Blunt on September 28, 2012 and RED DAWN starring Chris Hemsworth, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Adrianne Palicki, Josh Hutcherson, Isabel Lucas, and Josh Peck coming to theatres on November 21, 2012. I love seeing all these ladies in power positions in HW. We could use more "girl power" in that industry.

Thanks, Barb.
