So 3 friends and I are at Olive Garden last night. (I vowed not to bring up Gerry since they're probably tired of hearing about him!) Got talking about Trump Casino. Friend says she thinks Trump is good looking. When the 3 of us got up off the floor from laughing, we asked the waitress her opinion. She immediately says no. (duh)

Next time she came by the table, I'm talking away to my one friend and the Trump admirer punches me in the arm with a cackle. Here the waitress, out of the blue, tells her she thinks Gerard Butler is good looking!

Holy crap, I just found another fan in my town! Told her about the premiere in NYC next week. Invited her to join me and some girlfriends going to PFK next Friday and gave her my email and phone number. (I had to laugh later...I'm out with a bunch of single girls and I end up giving my number to a woman. What's wrong with this picture? hee hee)

Posted Image That's a great story, Sharon! I remember when Suzie and I first started our Wednesday "Gerry Day" (where we get together for lunch and shopping, always wearing a "Gerry shirt" and jewelry of some kind), that most of the time our restaurant servers and store clerks never heard of Gerry. We did a lot of "enlightening" them complete with flashing pictures from our wallets and naming movies he's been in. We've invited lots of folks to join GALS! Now, more people we meet know who Gerry is. Never have had a woman tell us he's not hawt, or that someone else is hawtter. Posted Image

I know this is waaaay late, but :Welcome2: Sharon! I love your story... giving your number to a woman indeed! :D I have a 300 poster in my cubical at work. That usually starts a conversation with new employees! The women say, "I love him, he's hot," and the men say, "I loved that movie!" Win-win!

I hope all the U.S. GALS had a lovely Thanksgiving!

The premier I attended was in LA for Rocknrolla. I just happened to be there visiting my daughter who was living there at the time. I did see Gerry and he signed a photo for me, but he wasn't talking to any fans or taking pictures with them because he was being harassed by professional autograph people who were pushing fans out of the way to try to get multiple signatures. Gerry was arguing with one of them, plus a woman was harassing him about the movie 300 and how she didn't like the way Persians were portrayed.Posted Image I had no chance to talk to Gerry. I'm just glad he did walk all the way down the line to sign autographs, because I was almost at the end of the line and I was afraid he would stop signing and go in the theater. Someone took a picture of him signing for me, and my thumb is in the picture. That's my only picture with Gerry. Anyway, that's my story. Well, maybe someday...Posted Image

Back home now. Trying to get this video and pictures off my phone. As soon as I can do it, will one of you screen cap wizards make a 'still' of me and Gerry? I'll send you all the raw video and you will have quite a few nice pics of him to share!

Just got home from seeing PFK twice. Back to back. Good movie. Good movie. Don't let critics keeps you from seeing this movie. I will see it again - probably tomorrow. Gerry is very good. It's good. Chick flick - very, very good.

Bonnie, last night I checked our local theater up here in Estes to see if PFK was playing there today. Nothing listed about the movie so I figured I would have to make a trip to Loveland. After I read your post here I tried the theater web site again out of desperation and there it was. The next showing in five minutes. I guess I won't make it. I'll be going to the first show tomorrow though, FOR SURE!! Thanks for your post because it made me check one more time. I have no idea why it wasn't shown yesterday as "Coming Soon" since it is showing today.

I am SO bummed! I just found out from a friend that Frankie Avalon was in Estes Park ( my town ) yesterday. He heard about the Stanley Hotel and he wanted to see it for himself. I had such a crush on him when I was a teenager. I was told he looked GREAT! He always did. Those of you in Colorado keep a look out for him. He has to be somewhere in Colorado tonight.

Hi, everyone! Christmas is my favorite time of year. My shopping is almost finished, the tree and house are decorated. We were planning to spend Christmas in the French Quarter of New Orleans, but decided to cancel the trip in favor of staying home to enjoy our family traditions here. We spent Christmas out of town 2 years ago, and Erin said she really missed having Christmas at our house, seeing her cousins and aunt and uncle and going to Church Christmas Eve.

Here are our outside lights.

The mantle with my nutcracker collection.

The tree, which is decorated with all unbreakable stuff because of our cats. It's also anchored to the wall with fishing line because they turned the tree over 2 years ago and broke a couple of my favorite ornaments.

Beautiful Elissa. I'm afraid with all that is going on in my life right now that I'm having a very hard time getting into the Christmas spirit. I've decorated my house .... I think I'm going to have to work on my spirit. I'm just praying the court case will be over before Christmas .... but as the time draws closer and closer it looks like it may not. But if all else fails I will remember the true reason for Christmas and celebrate that.

hugs,

Sue

Elissa...I love your Christmas pics of your home. I especially love the Nutcrackers. I have always wanted to start a collection. I love how yours is perfectly graduated in size. Was that planned? I'm with you, Christmas at home is where you want to be. That's why we came back to Colorado from Florida, just for Christmas. We are going back Jan. 4th.

Sue...I keep thinking about you because this trial is going on and on. I hope it doesn't go on after Christmas but the result is more important. I know this is taking a lot out of you, sweetie. Keep the Faith!

  • 2 weeks later...

I hope everyone here who celebrates the day is having a wonderful Christmas! For those who don't, I hope you're having a great day, too! I don't think I can top Zany's post, but here goes. Posted Image

Here are some photos from last night. We took these right before we left for Church. After Church, we had a very late dinner at Outback Steakhouse, then came home and watched the movie "Scrooge," which is the musical version with Albert Finney as Scrooge. Got up early this morning and opened our presents. We're having Christmas dinner this evening with my sister and her family. We're bringing the turkey and dressing. Good Sport has cooked the turkey, the dressing is in the oven.

Just stopped in to make a quick visit and hope everyone had a good holiday! Enjoying all the photos of Christmas, Gerry, etc.!

Just got home a couple of days ago from two weeks away on the high seas and Florida visiting some family. Got to see Aruba, Curacao, Columbia, and went through the Panama Canal! You've got to put that on your bucket lists! It was awesome! Then on to Costa Rica and took a boat down a canal through the jungle! It was quite a culture shock coming back to the states and even though Ft. Lauderdale was unseasonably cool, it was hard to return to 20 degrees here!

Then when we returned, we went straight from the airport on Christmas Eve to do some last minute shopping on the way home! We were trying to find wrapping paper in convenience stores as that was all that was open. I had some gifts waiting to be wrapped still at home! I should have done it before but I thought I'd lost a gift card and had spent two days trying to track it down through the mail. I thought I'd mailed it with a Christmas card that I had planned on handing to my sis personally. Not to mention it was a prepaid Master Card for her so she could take care of my animals! YIKES! I even had the Postmaster General looking for it. I finally found it when I went looking for another gift card I had misplaced. It was like a "Christmas Miracle"! Too many things going on at one time I guess!

Problem is I have two "Delenes", one too efficient and the other scatter brained. The efficient one put the cards in the logical place, my bag, last place to look, right? The scattered brained me thought that was of course too logical a place to look for them and thought they got mixed in with the Christmas cards to be mailed which was one of the tasks given to T to handle. Of course, I blamed the whole thing on T and dealt him a fit for two days. How could he be so absent minded as to mail cards with no stamps or addresses marked on them! When I finally located them, I was hesitant to tell him but when I did, he just glared at me, then laughed uproariously, then glared at me again saying, "You have anything you want to say to me?" I didn't really have anything I "wanted" to say to him but I did.

So hope your Christmas's were less stressing then mine and your New Year a safe and happy one! Now I plan on a winter's hibernation in to spring, hopefully a short one!

Sounds like you had quite a Christmas adventure, Delene! Glad it all got sorted out in the end. That cruise sounds wonderful!Posted Image

Christmas evening we went to my sister's house for Christmas dinner and gift exchange, which is a gift card grab bag draw followed by trading cards around until everyone is happy with what they drew. After all the wheeling and dealing was over, I ended up with iTunes Posted Image and my favorite movie theater, Alamo Drafthouse.

I was on the schedule to work today, should have been canceled, because post-partum nurses were taking all but 2 of our babies, but the nursery night shift charge nurse didn't know that, so she told me to come in. I got to work and we were overstaffed. I was there 45minutes, then came back home. Some of you know my unit at the hospital is being phased out as the hospital goes from traditional nursery to couplet care (mother/baby). Supposedly going live on Jan. 1, so it will be more difficult for me to get hours. I'm due to retire on Sept. 1, but it looks like I may be retiring a few months ahead of schedule. Posted Image
