I'm so happy Gerry finally went to Natchitoches (pronounced na-ka-tesh)! I've been there twice and just loved it! I called it "notchietosush" and had an entire store correct me in unison! Very embarrassing!

Me, T and one of the dogs walked along the river and the quaint shops. It's kind of like a mini New Orleans in a way. You drive from Shreveport along a not so very scenic drive and suddenly it comes upon you with the wrought iron balconies, cobblestone streets and flowers everywhere. We got a map of the city that showed all the landmarks from Steel Magnolias like Truvy's and Shelby's house, Claree's house and that tree lined street in the beginning of the movie. You know, the usual touristy stuff. That movie was a big deal there. Remember Dylan McDermott played Jackson, Shelby's love interest and was at that time Julia Robert's real life beau. He probably had some input in to Gerry checking it out.
