Stuart is it me or were you as shocked at the figures as I was. Blue Jean it is a variation on naming as many Gerard movies as possible and then guessing how many out of 100 people could name his films.

Watching the quiz is easier than trying to explain it.

the point of Pointless is they ask subjects and you've to try and come up with the lowest scores - ie the more obscure an answer the chances are less people know. To win the final they would have to name 3 Gerry films that the least people knew about and as long as one answer is 0 they win jackpot - quite alot I'd expect would be 0 or very low figures.

So the player would have to know three obscure Gerry films to win? Films they figure that general population might not know???

Yes that's correct. I haven't seen programme yet but since I don't think the UK public really know alot of Gerry's films I expect most of his films will have very low scores, maybe 0 scores, even his recent ones. Obviously 300 and PSILY i'd expect will get higher scores, maybe The Bounty Hunter too.

Thank you, Stuart! Gerry made a lot of very for forgettable movies in his pre-Hollywood days they didn't list. Surely no one gave points to Mummy, Jewel of the Sierra or Rock Star...not to mention the truly awful Little White Lies!

The only movie on that list that surprised me was, "Dear Frankie". I would expect the other movies to be unknown in the UK but "Dear Frankie" was made in Scotland. It was also a wonderful movie. Why was it not seen in the UK? Amazing!

I think the Mummy might not have had Gerard listed in the cast credits. However they could have made a mistake with the information on the movie. JOTS was a short so were not elidgable. Little White Lies and Rock Star were TV shows so again did not count.

Dear Frankie was a tiny indie movie here in the Uk that only got a London West End and key city art house release and when I joined Gerards fan base even I had not heard of it and I am Brittish so not that surprised no one in the general public has not heard of this truly wonderful movie.

The shock for me was how low POTO scored. That was a major hit in the UK and has been on TV a lot and sold well on DVD. Also P.S.I Love You was a massive hit here so the fact that his films universally scored low is a concern.

There seems to some dislocation between Gerard, his movies and the UK public let alone the critics and how that can be sorted is a real mystery.
