Hi Lish, still here. Played golf yesterday and had some friends over so didn't spend time on the computer. I pulled a muscle in my shoulder on the weekend making a bed (urgh!) so didn't play so well but it was a lovely day and the 9 hole walks with a few swings was fun. I decided several years ago not to take golf too seriously or I would go nut LOL.

I'm a happy puppy because Gerry is coming to Australia - to Sydney. Not that I'll get an opportunity to see him but it's nice knowing he's in the country and filming here. He's working with one of my favourite Aussie actors Geoffrey Rush. It's almost worth thinning about doing a bit of a 'groupie' thing and staking the studio but I've never done anything like that and don't think I could do it now.

Hugs

Cat

I was thinking of you Cat when I heard about Sydney Studios involved in this movie. Time to take a trip to Sydney when you hear Gerry has arrived. I also love Geoffrey Rush. He was fabulous in. "The King's Speech". I have the DVD and the book.

Oh, Irish, Brayan is doing awesome! He's been diagnosed with asthma and adhd recently, not surprising given his preemie status. He's doing well on needs. A thriving 6 year old monkey! I've also acquired 3 more children through marriage. Andrew(14) and the twins Brett and Cassie (11). They are a lot of fun. My husband Dan and I met online about 5 years ago and has a phantom ish wedding in 2011. When I remember how, I'll post some pics.

Oh Lish, that picture of Brayan in his karate outfit brought tears to my eyes....he always has been such a courageous fighter since the moment he was born!!!! I'm so happy for you AND your growing family.

I sure hope next year we can all attend the convention and have as big of one as we had back in the early days.

Cat, I was also at the first convention but I guess we never got to meet up.

hugs,

Sue

Sue, maybe we did but there were 100 GALS there and I met so many people. Fun wasn't it. I got there the Sunday before as did Risa/luvphantom, and we toured Vegas, went to the Grand Canyon, saw a few shows and then waited for Nancy (Attilla Girl) to join us on the Friday. We all shared a room and had a ball.

That October I organised the 1st Australian Con in Melbourne (sponsored by GB.Net). Gerry sent me and the other two ladies on the organising an personal card thanking us. We were thrilled. We only had 48 people but they came from far and wide. It was great. We had two more he in Australia before it petered out due to cost of travel *sigh*.

I still have all the photo's and the album sits just behind me as I write with Gerry's face smiling at the mass of women before him. Poor guy. When he came out that Saturday night I'm sure he thought he was going to get mugged. Luckily we were all so well behaved.

This was me at the con with Susan (I'm the shorter one LOL): th_June06_0075.jpg

Happy Galsiversary, Kathy - many happy returns for you. Glad we met up here at Gals and could reminise about B&G.

Hugs

Bonnie

Thank you so much Bonnie! I keep wishing I had asked you that day if you were a member of a Gerry fan site. I knew you and your friends liked Gerry. It was obvious. I thought I was the only fan in Colorado. LOL! Found out that was wrong as time went on and I found more Gerry fans in the Denver area. That was a fun day at the B&G movie.

Cat, what wonderful memories you have. This is going to sound strange but I recall watching the video of the first convention and when Gerry was talking he asked where everyone was from. I remember someone mentioning Australia. I remember that because I couldn't believe anyone would travel from Australia to a convention. I never forgot that. Was that you? I can't imagine more there from Australia. Sounds like you had a fabulous time. Why not, you saw Gerry!!!! *SIGH* How lucky can you get!!!

Well, funnily enough Kathy, there were two of us from Australia. The other GAL was from Western Australia. She shouted louder than I did LOL. I only got a short chance to say Hi to her and unfortunately I cannot remember her name :-(. She was standing behind me, toward the back. I was right up front with my camera.

Truly, despite that he's filmed here before for Nim's Island, this country is so big it's hard to imagine catching up with him in Australia. I feel so privileged that I actually got to see him in person and then got a letter from him too. The latter is framed along with the signed photo and hangs in my bedroom. I can see it from my bed LOL. I'm one of those people who has a wonderful husband who just smiles benighly when Gerry is mentioned.

I love hearing those stories! Two from Australia!! Fantastic! My hubby has been very tolerant about Gerry. He even goes to all of Gerry's movies with me and my two sons are fans. BUT, I don't think he would be real happy about anything hanging on our walls about Gerry. I've never tried it but I have known him since I was 14 yrs. old so I think I know how his mind works. :)

Isn't it funny. Our men think they are quite tolerant which is nice but there are limits. Mike never liked me liking Kevin Costner but I have no idea why. Yet Gerry is OK. Gotta love them.

Just did my first Pilates class. Wasn't sure how I would go. My friend, she's American too, kind of hassled me to go because she said it wasn't so bad and it might help my neck. I have a bad neck from too much computer work. So, I didn't quite 'enjoy' it but my friend was right, it's not too hard. I might even go back. I need to get some mobility and flexibility going. I want to keep my health for as long as I can.

So, now off to 9 holes of golf,

Catch you all later,

Cat

Smart gal, keeping your mobility and flexibility will mean you can live life to the fullest. Nothing sadder than to see a person fall short of where they should be for their age. I winter in Florida close to Disney World and my hubby and I walk those Parks faster than most people. It is because we also live in the mountains of Estes Park, Colorado in the Spring through Fall months and we hike all summer. We keep going and that means I can stay very active. Once you start sitting it is a downward spiral and you can't get it back. Keeping your body healthy is so important. But, you know that already. :)

I think your hubby appreciates Gerry because he is a man's man. Men as well as women love Gerry.

I think you've hit the nail on the head Kathy, about Gerry being a man's man. With the exception of the rom com's, Mike watched all the movies with me, appreciating Rock'n'Roller, 300, The Jury (series) and his recent Olympus Has Fallen the best. Of course I've always loved Timeline because that's when I first noticed Gerry. Still my favourite character is Terry Sheridan from TR2 because he's charming, tough and in the end, flawed. Then of course I adore his voice-acting in How to Train Your Dragon.

As for exercise, yep, very important. I was quite surprised how well I managed Pilates. I walk twice a day with the dogs (we have 2 rough-coated Jack Russells) and play golf twice a week. It's just that flexibility is becoming an issue and I do believe Pilates is going to help that.

OK, back to real life,

Catch you all later,

Hugs

So right about Gerry being a man's man - I just had an example of that this afternoon. My boss (male) was in my office and just noticed the photo of me with Gerry (same as my avi) that is on the file cabinet behind my desk. He was surprised, asking "Is that Gerard Butler? I love him, he's great! Have you seen Chasing Mavericks?" I told him I have seen nearly all of his movies at least once (I have never seen Movie 43 and never will). I know my boss once attempted to surf up at Mavericks, I think he has family who live in that area. When he talked about surfing there I never mentioned the movie to him, but now we have a point of conversation for the future. Just the other day we'd been talking about Ireland (he's going) and Scotland (my 3 trips) so today I told him that Gerry was pretty much the catalyst for why I went to Scotland and he actually thought that was cool, not weird.

Cat, first of all I LOVE Jack Russells. They are so cute. I am a terrier fan. I used to have two West Highland White terriers. They died of old age illnesses and I miss them so much. Funny how the men don't like to see Gerry in a romantic role. I guess it is just not macho enough for them. Keep up with the Pilates, I hear nothing but good things about it.

Susan, I love your story! I'm so glad some men are not afraid to say they like Gerry and they don't think we are silly to love him and show out fandom. There is hope for the male species after all. LOL!!

I agree ladies, there is hope for the men, but it took us GALS to bring it out in them :-).

Gerry is in Sydney! I'm going to Sydney on the 14th. We will be in the same city. That is quite something as normally he's thousands of miles away. Not that I'm likely to be anywhere he is but it's nice to know.

My husband thinks Gerry is pretty cool. My cousin Clark who passed away in January thought Gerry was awesome. I miss our talks about his acting abilities and roles. He was really the only one in my family who got it.

It is nice that we gals are getting the men enlightened about Gerry. My sons gradually admitted that they liked him and started asking me when he was going to make another movie. They aren't into the Rom/Coms but love the action movies with Gerry. They have many of his DVDs.

Cat, keep your eyes opened while in Sydney. Gerry has a way of taking off by himself and you may see him in places you don't expect. Check out the coffee shops!!! :)

It's nice when you have someone who understands and you can spend hours talking about Gerry and his movies. Sorry to hear about your cousin, Lish.

Hmmm... Good idea Kathy :-). There are quite a few around the area where the studio's are located. And if he likes the beaches well....

:boobsquish: I have had a rotten week! First, on Monday, I got food poisoning from eating some tainted food from the grocery store deli. Was sick as a dog for two and a half days. Then, just as I was getting over the food poisoning, yesterday, I bent over to untangle the leash of one of my dogs, and the next thing I knew, I was having a severe muscle spasm in my right lower back/hip area that put me on the ground. For the rest of the day, I could barely walk, I was so sore. I'm still sore today, but getting around better. I have a million things to do and our local Irish Festival is this Saturday. As membership chair, I have to be there! Next week is my daughter's birthday, I'm scheduled to work two 12 hour shifts at the hospital next week, and we have St. Patrick's day events I'm committed to on Saturday, Sunday and Monday of next week. Please pray for me that I get through all of this! :stars:

Cat, I hope you get to see Gerry while he's there. Like others have said, keep your eyes open. He's liable to turn up when and where you least expect it! :)

Oh Cat, my fingers and toes are crossed for you my dear that you run into him :cunning:

Lish, so sorry for the loss of your cousin my dear.

My son has also turned around and now really enjoys Gerry's movies. He said he thought Machine Gun Preacher was one of the best films ever!

Oh Elissa, thhugsbear.jpg and saying a prayer that you get the kinks worked out (hope you have a good chiropractor and therapist or someone to help!) and that you will get the rest you need to be able to enjoy all the festivities in the coming days!

hugs to all my galfriends!

Thanks, Sue! I don't have a chiropracter unless you count Bill, who's really adept at lathering on the bengay! :D I'm taking it easy today and tomorrow, only going to the festival on Saturday for the hours I'm committed to work. Somehow, I'll get through it! I hope.

Oh Elissa, I am thinking of you and sending huge hugs. What a dreadful week. I will send all my best wishes flying over the Pacific toward you and keep you in mind during the week while you are in hospital. And when you are feeling down think of us and :gerry: and :marek: and :leo: and :onetwo: and I'm sure there will be a smile on your face despite the pain.

Off to Sydney next weekend and, yes Sue, I'll be keeping my eyes glued to the people in coffee shops and walking around the trendy parts of town. I may have to leap out of moving cars... but it will be worth it :D

Hugs to you all,

Cat

Thanks, Cat! I won't be in the hospital as a patient, I'll be there working! Unless my back pain causes me to call in sick. It is getting better. I just hope it's back to normal by Tuesday when I have to work. :)

Well now Elissa, this past week has been one to forget. Glad your tummy is back to normal but it sure sucks for you to get that sciatica attack. At least that is what it sounds like to me. Take it easy and relax your body with some of those special drinks that Bill can make for you. :) Muscle relaxation is the key......if it is not what you need then who cares, the drinks are great! :D

Cat, I HOPE HOPE HOPE you get to see Gerry while in Sydney. What fun to think that you might see him. I would love the hunt myself. Just make sure you take a camera or phone to take pictures!!!!

Hi Sue!! Missing you around here!!! How's your boys doing? Did you know that Barbara has an update on Frannie on here? She will pass on the posts to Frannie.

Elissa, sciatica is the worst when it hits. And working in a hospital certainly doesn't help. Hope it clears up soon.

I'm currently typing as grandson sleeps and I get a few moments to myself from a weekend of babysitting. He's now 11 months old and cute as a button. And what's really nice is that he's a lot easier than his mum was at the same age YAY!. So this grandparent thing is wonderful.

Hope you all have a great weekend and next weekend when I'm in Sydney I'll keep you informed if I get any sightings.

Hugs to all

Cat, good luck next week-end. I've seen Gerry in several pics of him with fans in Sydney so he is out and about.

You are right, being a grandparent is wonderful. It is our reward for being a parent.
