I could use some hugs and good thoughts for the next few weeks. Getting laid off June 1st, just found out that one of the temp workers that I helped train got my job (she was made a permanent employee two days after I was laid off...), and I might be getting a divorce. At least I have Con to look forward to!

Issy

I'm so sorry to hear about both of these events, Issy. I am shocked at the different turns my life has taken over the last several years, so I know how you must be reeling right now. It is indeed wonderful that you will be in Vegas with the GALS, who will no doubt wrap you in their arms and offer you all their support.

In other news, I made it through my MRI today and discovered that Valium is a beautiful thing!

Good afternoon all! Happy to see you all here but sorry for those with the woes presently. Hang in there! I'm a strong believer in that things happen for a reason.

Weather is beginning to give us a break here finally. We'll be firing up the fleet of tractors soon and hitting the fields. The rain seemed to do a good job.

Made contact with an old school chum today via FB and we talked on the phone for two hours! She had moved out of state many, many years ago and we just lost contact. Her younger sister came up on my sister's FB as a friend of a friend, you know how that goes, and the rest is history. She's now a Missionary working with orphans in Haiti! She goes down there several times a year and has been doing it for a decade. She seems to really have found her calling in that! She co runs a ministry there and has about 28 kids. She loves the kids like her own and is sending down a van stuffed full of clothes and such and then will be going down herself in the near future. She says she sometimes goes alone but can usually get her friend to go. I asked her if she was a bit scared of going down there alone and she said, "No, I have people at that end waiting for me and we have a big steel door we lock at night!" Yikes!

She was such a wild child in high school while I was such a fuddy duddy prude! I always told her she corrupted me. I think we balanced each other maybe.

Funny how life changes! She used to drag me out to the bars with her, much to my protestation. We seemed so opposite yet clicked together so well. She loved to chase the guys and party and I hated it! She said she used me as "bait" and as the designated driver! I remember coming home from a college "barn party" in a freezing rain and being all over the road at times and she slept like a baby the whole way. Of course I wasn't drinking but I asked her how she could sleep like that all the way home that night and she said, "Because I trust you." She's the friend I was with the night I met T and he said he actually wanted to ask her out instead of me. She made me talk to him! It's all her fault!

I was wondering if our reconnection was something meant to be and something profound is about to happen as seems she was always the friend who was with me at those life changing moments and was the one who encouraged me and egged me on to take that leap of faith. We shall see I guess.

Good morning, Gals...........it's a beautiful day in Loveland, CO. It's snowing, snowing, snowing.......and it is beautiful. Trees, shrubs, etc. all covered with snow but not sticking to driveway, etc. It's very, very wet - lots of slush on the pavement......but just good watering on everything else. And, of course, I had my sprinkling system turned on on Saturday!! Yes, I did.

It's 10:36ish, it's snowing, and I'm not dressed yet. I think it's time for a snack. Wonderful day.

Issy, we are always generous with our Posted Image!!!

Bonnie, it sounds beautiful. We had severe winds last night and this morning it was a mess! Part of a huge tree (thank God it belongs to the city) fell across my driveway (3 car garage driveway)...that tells you how big this tree was! The city just left here about a half hour ago (they've been working all night and day they said .. cleaning up from this wind storm) and now my brother is outside trying to put part of my fence that blew down back up.... speaking of hugs....I think I need one!!! lol

Delene, not all that long ago I had something similar .... one of my dearest friends from when I was young and my son (who turned 40 yesterday) was just a toddler just came back into my life after almost 20+ years. We both moved back to this area to be closer to our grandchildren ... I'm widowed and she's divorced so we have our girls night once a week (much different type of girls night now of course...but it's like we're BFF's again)!

hugs to all my sistars and galfriends!

love,

Sue

Hey everyone! It's snowing here! Getting sick of it! Want spring!

Sue, it's funny how you fall right back in where you left off with a friend from the past! They know and accept you as you are most of the time. I think that reconnection sometimes is meant to be at certain times of our lives. We loose too much with disconnection from friends over the years and it's sad.

Bonnie, it's snowing here too! Colorado I get, Missouri not so much! Time for spring already!

Swannie, So thrilled for you! Keep up the good work and keep us up to date on Bill too.

Issy, anything on the horizon? Hang in there kiddo and keep us up to date on developments. I'm sure something will come your way.

Have a great weekend, everyone and hugs to all!

Dalene........where in Missouri? I'm from Missouri - Poplar Bluff.........down South on the Arkansas line.

Bonnie

Hey, Bonnie, we're southeast of KC in a rural unincorporated area west of Warrensburg, MO. but I know where Poplar Bluff is! We lived in Colorado for almost seven years, first in Evergreen then in Elizabeth. We moved back in 2003.

A most interesting thing this afternoon! A photo popped up on my face book newsfeed page of George Harrison and a girl and the caption was "Do you know who the girl is with George?" Well as you know, I'm a big Beatles fan but the face wasn't clear on the girl but my guess was Astrid Kirchherr, a German photographer and friend of the Beatles back before they were famous. So I looked her up to get a photo and starting reading about her relationship with the Beatles and being advisor to the film "Backbeat" which is about the early rise of the Beatles and the actor who played Stuart Sutcliff, former base player whom she was engaged to, which was played by Stephen Dorff in the film and who is also in Ariel Vromen's new film, "The Iceman"! What a coincidence!

Guess since it's freezing rain outside on May 3, the Internet is about the best entertainment I'm gonna find! Hope you all are having better weather!

Delene: There is a slight chance that I will be able to keep my job, as another of my coworkers who was not laid off has left, leaving our dept. even more short-handed than it already was. I emailed my supervisor on Tuesday about this, but he hasn't responded at all. No surprise, so I'm going to talk to HR on Monday. No matter what, though, I'm going to look for a new job. Thanks for asking.

Dalene - it's always fun to meet someone from home! I'm familiar with Warrensburg. Coincidences, such as the one you mentioned concerning the "girl with George" always re-enforces my thinking that "it's a small world" and The Stranger's - "we're all connected".

I have tried several times to get into Gaming. There's nothing there. Were all the games removed?

BlueJean

Never mind - I found the instructions and played a couple of games. Sorry.

Just wanted to stop by to wish everyone a happy Mother's Day weekend! I'm hoping for my "gift" request to come true this year, as I've hoped for it every year since about 2006 and that is my son gets my Jeep "detailed"! Now that it's over ten years old, it could really use it! The dog hair is everywhere not to mention how many lost tidbits will be found from the doggie "banquets" from Sonic! Most times the dogs are very skillful at catching midair whatever I toss at them in to the back over my right shoulder, everything from chicken nuggets to tater tots but sometimes they're a hit and miss! I never "aim" because it's their job to "catch". The missed ones usually get found eventually, especially the chicken nuggets, but some things become lost forever. Keeping fingers crossed!

Our weather in Portland could not be more perfect! I just can't wrap my head around the regions that are still having snow in May! Everything in Portland is in full bloom! Delene, Bill and I are learning to adjust to this new state of being. It's very difficult at times, but deep down inside he is still my sweet adorable man.

The song I referred to in the post above has been released! I am so proud of how this turned out. I think it is Nathan's best orchestration of any song we have ever done together. Those of you who have been members here for awhile, and those of you who have read the unrevised edition of my book will have read the lyrics to this song throughout the pages of Chanson de l'Ange, as they are prominently featured in the text. I think it was Beachie, who many years ago suggested that I should write an actual song from those lyrics-and so I did. I wrote the words and music, Nathan composed the orchestral accompaniment, and the vocal is by Toni Gibson. I hope you will have a listen and add the song to your music library. Also, if you do, could you please "rate" it on the itunes page? Ratings and reviews help us build our customer base. Very important for indie artists. Here is the link to itunes where you may listen to a short clip and purchase the single.

Hi ladies! Sorry I've been MIA...life decided to suck for a bit. I lost an old friend a couple weeks ago, and I've more or less been in hermit mode since. He was 44, way too young to be gone. I also got drafter to run registration for a new scifi convention that launches next year, I'm now helping run the tech side of church worship on Sundays, summer session starts soon, blah blah blah...Posted Image

Weather over the last couple days has been glorious...except now there's a thunderstorm raging! LOL Oh well...I probably shouldn't complain. All this rain now means we're not gonna get squat over the summer, and it's likely to be another scorcher summer. Posted ImageUgh...remind me why I left NY again???

I promise, I'll get donations for the auction in the mail in the next couple days, and there's some creativity rolling....I have just lost my little pea brain! Posted Image

Hope all is well in the world of the GALS. Much love!

Hey Issy - so good to catch up with you again at the convention. I knew you were being laid off but wasn't aware you were being replaced with someone who had been a temp. Were you a permanent employee? I don't know about where you are but here in California an employer can't do that. You cannot lay off an employee and then replace him/her - at least not for 12 to 18 months. A layoff is usually for work reduction and the alternative, termination, has to be with cause (and tons of documentation and multiple warnings and coaching on ways to improve...) Something is quite fishy about what they did to you. I guess it's up to you whether that job is worth the fight, or if you truly believe it is a sign that there is something better ahead for you. That's how I felt when I was laid off - I could have fought it because I had several years of seniority and they laid me off to replace me with my Assistant Controller (who just happened to be related by marriage to the owner of the company). I was a "protected class" based on my age and likely could have filed a suit, but I knew that what happened was for a bigger reason, and I was right. That doesn't mean everyone who is unjustifiably laid off should just take it! May everything work out for the best for you.

Very nice, EM! Thanks!

Thirty years ago today, Good Sport and I were married. Where did the years go? We celebrated our anniversary last weekend by going to the coast. It was restful, but like all weekends away, was over too soon. Our honeymoon, 30 years ago, was to Disney World/Epcot by car, with stops in New Orleans and other places along the way.

On a sad note, yesterday we lost our oldest kitty, Faith, to major organ failure. She was 16 years old, and always was very sweet and loving. I wish I had a better picture of her. She had the most beautiful green eyes.

Hugs to all!

Wow, Elissa, talk about mixed feelings. So sorry about your purr baby, Faith. She was so sweet. However, congratulations to you and Bill on 30 years together. May your love and your friendship for one another continue to grow and to last many, many more years.

EM, loved the video! Now I want to go dancing!

Hugs to all me girlies and my PALS too,

Suzie
