4/3 - God of Bondi! Gerard Butler hits Sydney's best known beach

Recommended Posts

Hunky Gerard Butler is certainly making the most of his downtime in Sydney while filming the new fantasy action film, Gods of Egypt, there.

On Wednesday he headed down to Sydney's world famous Bondi Beach to have lunch with his pals at North Bondi Fish and afterwards went for a wander down along the sandy shores.

Gerard also let his eyes do plenty of wandering too as his hunky frame caught plenty of attention amongst the local bikini-clad population too.

Gerard is currently filming Gods of Egypt in Sydney, alongside Aussie newcomer Brenton Thwaites, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Geoffrey Rush.

Gerard stars as Set, a god of desert storms and foreigners in ancient Egypt. The film, which has a budget of $150m is not due for release until February 2016 and being directed by I, Robot's Alex Proyas.

Gerard says the film it is one of the biggest productions he has ever been involved in: 'It’s the largest budget movie I have ever worked on. It’s huge in every dimension. It’s huge in its scope. And it’s story. And visually...Everything about the movie feels bang on.' But there may very well be more to his Australian schedule than just Gods Of Egypt.

Gerard, cast to play Bodhi in the new Point Break remake, has been rumoured to be filming scenes for that movie as well whilst in Australia. Last month big wave surfer Jamie Mitchell revealed that Australia was definitely a location of interest to the film’s production crew. 'Australia was 100 per cent on their radar,' he told the MailOnline.

Another admission from an industry insider fuels speculation that Gerard will travel to the Gold Coast after his Sydney filming commitments are finished. 'The Gold Coast is the location producers are looking at because of the water tank facilities at Village Roadshow studios,' said a prominent Australian director who did not wish to be named.

Meanwhile Gerard has been making the most of his time when he's not needed on set to enjoy all of the delights of Sydney, also known by the locals as 'the Emerald City'. The Scots actor has been spotted enjoying all the major events around town including Handa Opera’s Madame Butterfly on Sydney Harbour and a rugby game between the Roosters and Sea Eagles.

The hunky star of 300 has also been spotted hanging out at inner city hotspot The Winery and the opening of a new bar, Casablanca, in posh Double Bay.

Gerard arrived three and a half weeks before the film started production so he could immerse himself in the dialect of his role as well as get physically and mentally ready for the part. His prep is clearly paying off and the actor showed off his bulging biceps and broad shoulders underneath a maroon sweatshirt that clung to his body as he rode around the CBD on his motorbike last month. Gerard was protected by a thick black helmet and sunglasses, but that's where his biker attire ended, as he donned grey cargo pants and sneakers to complete a casual outfit.

I hope he stays out of the water in Sydney. There was a woman attacked by a shark there today.

Lord, keep him safe.

Love him absolutely,

Sandy

The woman that was killed by a shark was on a beach in Tathra in New South Wales, south of Sydney. Too close for comfort. She was attached 150 yards off shore.

He is definitely looking mighty fine. I still think he's got about the sexiest set of legs I've seen on a man, that's why he looks so amazing on the rare occasions he dons a kilt.

I even had a Gerry dream last night, haven't had one in I don't know how long. Sadly, there was nothing naughty about it. I was just someplace with friends waiting to get on a train and Gerry was sitting there right next to us. He smiled and was his charming self and that's all there was to it.
