Being the compassionate person that I am, I can recognize a cry for help when I see one. Having said that, I have decided to start a new support group for those of us with Gerry Addicted Lust Syndrome - from now on, all with Gerry Addicted Lust Syndrome will be known as GALS.

This group is open to all GALS and non-GALS alike who believe they are in serious need of support and guidance as they realize how serious their addiction has become. This is not a support group which advocates traditional intervention, as the failure rate would be astronomical, but merely a group whom you can turn to who share in your addictions or withdrawals, whichever the case may be. Some of the signs that you have GALS include, but are not limited to: 

1. You buy every magazine on the rack looking for photos or articles of Gerry and start to get the jitters when there has been no sign of him for weeks.
2. You drive 500 miles to see a Gerry movie.
3. Your significant other (or just someone you're dating) gives you stark reminders they are SOOOO NOT Gerry.
4. Co-workers, friends and/or family start teasing you for your addiction � people can be so cruel...
5. You become addicted to caffeine because you can't pull yourself away from GALS...."'cause just MAYBE he'll be on Chat tonight."
6. You obsess with much glee, "Gerry has a computer...and he knows how to use it!!!!"
7. You find yourself asking aloud, "Did he REALLY mean what he said about the 3:00 a.m. thing and does he REALLY wear a size 11 shoe?" Then smile broadly.
8. You catch yourself speaking in a Scottish accent for no apparent reason.
9. You change the decor in your bathroom to accommodate your new yellow towels.
10. The "G-Spot" takes on a whole new meaning.
11. You spend days wondering why a Scot would be named "Andre." 
12. You buy "Mrs. Brown" just for the skinny-dipping scene and play that one scene in slow mo and super slow mo, over and over and over again. (Okay, so maybe that was just me.) 

13. You have a picture of Gerry in your wallet, and refer to him as "your man, Gerry."
14. You spend your hard-earned cash assigned for other "non-essential" items (phone bill, power bill, etc.) on essential Gerry related items.
15. You go shopping for your "real-life" man and finding yourself thinking, "OMG!!! Gerry would look so :censored: hot in that!!!"
16. You have to buy a new hard drive to accommodate all your pics and videos of Gerry.
17. You search through a couple hundred $5.50 DVDs at Wal-Mart because an employee said Dracula 2K might be there. 
18. You can't possibly walk past Starbucks without dreaming that maybe... *sighs*
19. You refer to the Gerry wallpaper on your computer as your "happy place."
20. While looking up at the clouds you SWEAR there's a cloud in the shape of a "G"...funny thing is, the GAL next to you sees the same thing!!!
21. Multiples (Gerrygasms) are an every day occurrence!!!
This list will continue to grow as you tell me your addictions...

Below is a very simple 10-step program to help foster our addiction.

1. You must admit you have GALS. This is so important to further your addiction. Yes, this support group wants to nourish your addiction, not starve it. We are here for you.
2. Come to believe the Great and Powerful Gerry is greater than ourselves and only our visions and/or fantasies can keep us addicted. To truly become addicted, however, one must at one time in ones life made the Gerry Mecca Journey (GMJ) and meet him in person.
3. Make a decision to turn our will and lives over to our addiction to Gerry.
4. Make a searching and fearless immoral inventory of our fantasies of Gerry.
5. Lend your support to those who have GALS, but are yet unable to admit it. 
6. Watch every movie (more than once) in which Gerry has a role. To be truly addicted, you must develop a love of all Gerry genres (yes, this includes "Tale of the Mummy" and "Dracula 2000").
7. Frequently quote lines from Gerry films. Memorize them, use them, replace old phrases with new Gerry lines. This will prove to all your serious commitment to your addiction.
8. Know Gerry's biography better than you know your own. True GALS will know all Gerry's trivia. Study it, soak it in, become one with Gerry's biography.
9. Give generously (money folks) to the website which has fostered your addictions and allowed your fantasies to take flight. 
10. Convert all who are convertible to this syndrome. This is the true mark of GALS. Do not judge - for your next recruit may be your boss!
 

As this is a relatively new Syndrome, the above guidelines are subject to editing, amending or scrapping all together as we GALS deem necessary.
The first step to true addiction is to admit you have GALS!! I will begin the group.

That sounds wonderful, Cat! I love the ocean and seashore. I'd move to the Texas Gulf Coast tomorrow if I could. Rockport, Texas is actually my dream retirement location. It's a sleepy, small town on Aransas Bay. We've been going there for a week end or two every Summer for many years. 

 

I just saw on Facebook that Gerry's movie "Headhunter's Calling", now renamed "A Family Man" is being shown in May as an exclusive on Direct TV. I don't have Direct TV, but I'm glad some are going to be able to see it. I hope if it does well, other TV providers will show it and that it will be released on DVD/BluRay. It's really a shame that this film didn't get a theatrical release.

I guess I need to find out what night it comes on Direct TV and invite myself over to my son's to watch.....that's really upsetting that a drama where Gerry gets to really show his talent besides being in action packed and comedy movies and now it isn't even going to be in theaters.

 I'm pretty bummed about A Family Man going to Direct TV too.  I have Dish and don't even know anyone who has DT.  

 

I love being NEAR the water, but not IN it.  I tend to drown when I even get in a pool!  However, my favorite place on the planet is Carmel By The Sea, California.  If California ever falls in the sea, I hope they save Carmel!

LOL Suzie, well, I hope if CA falls into the sea the upper part is saved ... I can only swim for so long and my babies..... speaking of which my son yesterday tried (with some friends) to get from the Bahamas to Florida and after 12 hours only getting half way there because of the winds and rough seas.  They ended up having to turn back towards the Bahamas and spend the night in the boat in some cove... tomorrow he is going to fly home   he loves giving his mother little heart attacks.

What a weekend we had! St. Patrick's Day is a very big deal for us. On Friday, Bill, Erin, Suzie, and I attended the Harp and Shamrock Society of Texas 50th Annual Wreath-laying at the Alamo, where we honor the men from Ireland and of Irish descent, who died in that battle. One of those fallen men was Jonathan Lindley. I am a direct descendant of one of his sisters. Following the ceremony, we all worked at the Harp and Shamrock's "Passport to Ireland" booths at the Irish Festival from 2:00-5:30pm. On Saturday, Bill, Suzie and I were back downtown at the festival again to work from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. We had a great time, and hopefully, recruited some new members. We had at least 250 children come through our arts and crafts booth! 

 

Yesterday evening, Bill and I went to a concert by the Christian rock band, Newsboys.  Bill wanted to skip the concert since we had been so busy for the past two days, so I told him just to drop me off at the venue and I would go by myself, but he decided to go anyway. He ended up having a really good time, but we were both happy that we didn't have to get up early to go anywhere today.

Elissa - sounds like you had a very busy wonderful weekend.    The Newsboys are good.   They were in the movie "God isn't Dead".     I'm sure the ceremony at the Alamo was very touching.

Next up will be the San Antonio Area Highland Games the first weekend of April. Will be working the Harp & Shamrock's booth on Sunday and popping in to visit with my kinsmen of Clan Gunn.

Ahhhh Barb, that was such a glorious night to remember.  I want a repeat...maybe someday!!  ....and I will never forget your patience in teaching us how to make a mask....I still have mine!

 

Elissa, wow...you are a busy lady and so is Suzie.  I've been pretty busy as well.  SafeQuest Solano is really going strong and so I'm busier than ever on the board of directors side of things.  I'm chairman of two committees at Soroptimist and secretary on my homeowners association board of directors.... My brother and sister in law had me over for dinner Tuesday night and my brother brought a few newspapers that had me in them....he asked me for my autograph...it's the worst thing for me because while I love being active in my community .... I HATE HAVING MY PICTURE TAKEN!!!  and then to have it plastered in the newspaper .

 

Alison, welcome back my friend!  I hope many of us come back to GALS...while it's fun on facebook...it's just not the same. 

 

Bonnie, how's the weather in Colorado these days?  We have had more rain this year than I think we've had in the past five years total.  I'm going to have to figure out how to get all the moss off of my patio stones as soon as I know it's over for the year....any ideas anyone??

Hey, where'd everybody go? 

 

Sue, I really admire all of the work you do in your community. Your schedule must be very busy! I work a lot with the Harp & Shamrock, but my busiest time is January through June. After that, things slow down quite a bit.

 

Please pray for the San Antonio area. They're saying heavy rains are coming tonight with a change of large hail again. Some people haven't even finished getting their cars and roofs repaired/replaced from last year's hail. Erin never got her car fixed, but we had Bill's truck and my car done. They look like new. We can't park them  under cover because our garage is full and we have no carport. Our roof, patio cover, and garage doors are completely new. They were replaced last Summer after the Spring hail storms.

Elissa!    Surely you won't get "hailed" again.    I pray you are all spared.       We (in CO) have thunderstorms accompanied by hard hail, too.      I hope your weather there is just like it is in your siggy.

Oh no Elissa....you are in my prayers that God will work in miraculous ways and spare you (and Suzie) any further damage due to our crazy weather patterns. 

 

For me I don't really get a breather because even though we go "dark" meaning no activities or weekly meetings during the summer June - beginning of September....that's when the boys are out of school and grandma duties kick in a whole lot more.  Unfortunately SafeQuest never stops.... but if I wasn't doing this I honestly don't know if I would get out of bed a lot of the days.  So it's all a good thing. 

 

Bryan and Fynn just got back from camping and riding jeeps in the desert for five days (Bry stayed with grandma):

Because of being crippled up on St. Patrick's Day (and the weeks before) I finally got to make my family and friends their annual corned beef and cabbage this weekend.  Between that and Bry yesterday I spent from morning to night in cleaning mode.  I finally am starting to get my house back to normal....almost.....no rest for the wicked as they say.

Last night, one of our neighbors who works at the Catholic church a couple of blocks away, said that we could park our cars overnight at the covered parking at the church's school administration building as long as space was available and we moved our cars before the start of school this morning. We gratefully took him up on it! The storm came through as predicted around 2am and lasted for a couple of hours at our house. We got up at 6:30 this morning and went and got our cars. I didn't hear of any hail anywhere in the area, so I guess we didn't need to park at the church overnight, but better safe than sorry. I'll remember that for the next time hail is in the forecast.

I'm glad we got no hail too, even though my car lives in its garage.  I have been having so much trouble with allergies this spring that I'm ready to rent a chainsaw and take down my Live Oak tree once and for all!  It's still loaded with catkins (those little caterpillar looking stringers that stick to your hair, clothes and the dog!).  When you touch one, it explodes into powder that gets in my eyes, nose and anything else that's open!  (I have become good friends with my bottle of Zyrtec!)

They will be done in about two weeks and then we get to see what's next!

So glad the storm turned out to be much less than anticipated...much easier to deal with that than the other way around! It was good of your neighbor to offer you the "safe zone"...like you said, better safe than sorry!

 

Susie...so sorry to hear about your allergy struggles...I suffer enough from them to know how lucky I am that I don't suffer as much as a lot of other people do, if that makes any sense!
