Dawn
Ok, I just have to rant. I have been saving and scrimping and been so pumped about Vegas all this time. Well, I had to wait to book a flight, because I didn't want to purchase a ticket until I knew for sure that I would have the time off work. With my job, things are very fluid, and vacations are a priviledge, not a right. I didn't want to purchase a ticket, and then not be able to use it or refund it. So now that I finally know my bosses can work around me being gone for three days, the ticket price has skyrocketed to over $600 Canadian. Stupid Gas Prices!! So now I'm concerned, A. whether I can still afford the trip after paying that for a ticket (you know, food lodging etc. ) and B. whether I can justify to myself spending that much money on a three day trip (as much as I love you Gals) when I could save it. I'm sitting here almost in tears, not knowing what to do or how to afford this now. If the fates are smiling at me, I will win the 35 million dollar lottery tonight and my worries will be over lol. Cross you fingers for me Gals, that I can still find a way!! Dawn
Suz
Dawn, I love ya. You have to go. You have been looking forward to this so much. dlsmilad
I hope you can go. I noticed the other day that the same ticket I bought had gone up $119.00. I have other issues that are causing questions for me & I already bought my tickets.
Fiona64
A couple of things to keep in mind: ticket prices are not really based on gasoline prices, because jet fuel is not formulated the same way. What they *are* formulated on is demand periods ... and after Memorial Day weekend in the US, prices start to go up. Of course, the other factor is that shorter notice tickets always cost more. The other factor is what day you travel. Week days are not always less expensive than weekends, because of all of the commuter flights. And ... sometimes one week earlier or later can make a difference. I'm going to San Diego in June, and I selected an earlier weekend because the flight was $50 cheaper ... just 7 days earlier. (My mom is a travel agent and I bought a study course on the industry, on which I am woefully behind ... )

Terry's Witch
Dawn: It would be awful if you could not make it, I am soooo looking forward to catching up. On the other hand I do understand. From here it's a huge cost but I need the break. I hope things work out for you. Have you tried expedia.com - they have the cheapest on-line prices available. Dr. Em
Dawn ~ You ran into the same thing trying to get my ticket to Daytona. But we were patient and the $800.00 ticket went down to $580.00 or something like that. Sure we could have gotten it for cheaper if we had acted sooner, but we didn't. We also didn't panic and pay $800.00 either. Just watch it every second. We were watching and I found the flight I wanted, e-mailed the details to Jenni and by the time (1 hour later) she went to purchase it, it had jumped $120.00!!! YIKES! Just keep the faith and have your friends watching for you. Dr. Em

zanyzombie
Lord, I pray the ticket prices come down for you, sweetie. I hope you decide to go! My trip to Toronto was expensive. More than I planned it to be. But, I have all those wonderful memories to treasure now. Try not to worry yourself too much, Dawn. celadon2
Hi Dawn, I have been doing a flight search and can't come up with anything better than $487.00. I found this through Tavelocity and Expedia. The airline is United. Travel dates: Leave Toronto (hope I got that right) on 6/8/06 to Las Vegas and then return on 6/11/06. Sadly, none of these flights are direct. I thought that a return flight on 6/10 would have you missing way too much. Anyway I hope this is of some help to you. I'll keep my fingers crossed and if I happen to find something better, I'll send it your way. I really hope that you go. All the best to you, Marianne
discoveringme
I hope you are able to find an airfare rate that you can live with Dawn. Vegas wouldn't be the same without you. :depressed: I'll keep sending good cheap thoughts your way. Wait, that didn't come out right..... You just gotta be there!! Dawn
Wow y'all are so awesome doing these searches for me Chris, by bus or train, I will arrive just in time to leave Gabe, I am going to check out your suggestion, you too TW (and I'm in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) The problem is, I need somewhat specific times, I can't fly out until the afternoon on the eighth, because I'm working the morning (and no I won't show up smelling like horse) and when I fly home, I need to return in time to go to work the next day, which excludes alot of flights that leave late and arrive the next morning!! Thanks again, off to search more!! Dawn

Actually Gals, thanks to everyone for their help and support, it looks like things might just turn out ok, the gas has gone down, I've found a much cheaper price thanks to a better website (more than one hundred less) and I will buy my ticket on Friday, I have to wait until then 'cause it's payday!!
