Gerry Addicted Lust Syndrome (GALS) continued

Recommended Posts

WELCOME to the TENTH floor of the 2nd highrise of our clinic!

Well, we are already up to the 10th floor and I think we pretty much all agree that if EVER there was a man who deserves to be called a "10" it is Gerard James Butler. I mean really, GALS, look at him - is he not as darn near perfection as you've ever seen in a man?

:whome2: :hmm2: :beard2: :wow2:

So let's take this opportunity to enumerate those qualities that make our dear Gerry a 10 to us, his adoring fans. Whether it be that combination of near flawless physical attributes, or the intelligence, humor, heart, talent and other components of the man that make him "simply irresistable" to you - this is the place to gush about them all!!!

AND NOW.... the original thread.

Being the compassionate person that I am, I can recognize a cry for help when I see one. Having said that, I have decided to start a new support group for those of us with Gerry Addicted Lust Syndrome – from now on, all with Gerry Addicted Lust Syndrome with be known as GALS.

This group is open to all GALS and non-GALS alike who believe they are in serious need of support and guidance as they realize how serious their addiction has become. This is not a support group which advocates traditional intervention, as the failure rate would be astronomical, but merely a group whom you can turn to who share in your addictions or withdrawals, whichever the case may be. Some of the signs that you have GALS include, but are not limited to:

1. You buy every magazine on the rack looking for photos or articles of Gerry and start to get the jitters when there has been no sign of him for weeks.

2. You drive 500 miles to see a Gerry movie.

3. Your significant other (or just someone you're dating) gives you stark reminders they are SOOOO NOT Gerry.

4. Co-workers, friends and/or family start teasing you for your addiction – people can be so cruel...

5. You become addicted to caffeine because you can’t pull yourself away from GALS...."'cause just MAYBE he'll be on Chat tonight."

6. You obsess with much glee, "Gerry has a computer...and he knows how to use it!!!!"

7. You find yourself asking aloud, "Did he REALLY mean what he said about the 3:00 a.m. thing and does he REALLY wear a size 11 shoe?" Then smile broadly.

8. You catch yourself speaking in a Scottish accent for no apparent reason.

9. You change the decor in your bathroom to accommodate your new yellow towels.

10. The "G-Spot" takes on a whole new meaning.

11. You spend days wondering why a Scot would be named "Andre."

12. You buy “Mrs. Brown” just for the skinny-dipping scene and play that one scene in slow mo and super slow mo, over and over and over again. (Okay, so maybe that was just me.) :D

13. You have a picture of Gerry in your wallet, and refer to him as “your man, Gerry.”

14. You spend your hard-earned cash assigned for other “non-essential” items (phone bill, power bill, etc.) on essential Gerry related items.

15. You go shopping for your “real-life” man and finding yourself thinking, “OMG!!! Gerry would look so :censored: hot in that!!!

16. You have to buy a new hard drive to accommodate all your pics and videos of Gerry.

17. You search through a couple hundred $5.50 DVDs at Wal-Mart because an employee said Dracula 2K might be there.

18. You can't possibly walk past Starbucks without dreaming that maybe... *sighs*

19. You refer to the Gerry wallpaper on your computer as your “happy place.”

20. While looking up at the clouds you SWEAR there's a cloud in the shape of a "G"...funny thing is, the GAL next to you sees the same thing!!!

21. Multiples (Gerrygasms) are an every day occurrence!!!

This list will continue to grow as you tell me your addictions...

Below is a very simple 10-step program to help foster our addiction.

1. You must admit you have GALS. This is so important to further your addiction. Yes, this support group wants to nourish your addiction, not starve it. We are here for you.

2. Come to believe the Great and Powerful Gerry is greater than ourselves and only our visions and/or fantasies can keep us addicted. To truly become addicted, however, one must at one time in ones life made the Gerry Mecca Journey (GMJ) and meet him in person.

3. Make a decision to turn our will and lives over to our addiction to Gerry.

4. Make a searching and fearless immoral inventory of our fantasies of Gerry.

5. Lend your support to those who have GALS, but are yet unable to admit it.

6. Watch every movie (more than once) in which Gerry has a role. To be truly addicted, you must develop a love of all Gerry genres (yes, this includes “Tale of the Mummy” and “Dracula 2000”).

7. Frequently quote lines from Gerry films. Memorize them, use them, replace old phrases with new Gerry lines. This will prove to all your serious commitment to your addiction.

8. Know Gerry’s biography better than you know your own. True GALS will know all Gerry’s trivia. Study it, soak it in, become one with Gerry's biography.

9. Give generously (money folks) to the website which has fostered your addictions and allowed your fantasies to take flight.

10. Convert all who are convertible to this syndrome. This is the true mark of GALS. Do not judge - for your next recruit may be your boss!

As this is a relatively new Syndrome, the above guidelines are subject to editing, amending or scrapping all together as we GALS deem necessary.

The first step to true addiction is to admit you have GALS!! I will begin the group.

"My name is Dr. Em and I have GALS."

All are welcome to join in our group. GALS, we must not suffer in silence!!! We now have a voice!!! Let it be heard!

*Disclaimer: We GALS appreciate not only Gerry’s royal hotness for which there is no rival, we indeed, also recognize his abundance of talent, soul, passion, spirit, sense of style and humor, sincerity...can I stop now? Our addictions are all-encompassing and we embrace Gerry EVERY WHICH WAY WE CAN!!!*

To Cleobethra for our “Warning Label.”

Hey Jenn! Love the siggie. They're trying to vote Creedy off of the Survivor Thread. You MUST save him.

All the reasons that Gerry is a ten? The list could get sooooooooo long. But I'll try.

His amazing spirit, his ever-changing and always beautiful eyes, his lovely and adorable Scottish accent, his incredible talent, his cute giggle, his sexy growl, his ability to be such a chameleon, his self-deprecating sense of humor, his very obvious intelligence, that entire gorgeous face..... Hmmmmmm, I know I could keep going but I'll save some adjectives for some other folks.

:igotgals: for sure. :inlove:

5) talented

6) compelling

7) charismatic

9) intelligent

10) unparalleled

SUE, WHOOPIE!!!!!!! Your gonna do it! Yes it's good to keep yourself busy, but don't stay so busy you can't get here!! I was wondering where you were today. Just stay focused but don't overdo because believe me you will relapse. This is a one day at a time thing and if things are not going good for you, threre's always a new day ahead. Hey, wouldn't it be nice if once you've quit and Erica's just about there and any other gal that wants to quit we could start a support thread for just that. Maybe Gerry would want to visit it?!  Just a thought........:lol:

:yippee: Fran

Fran! OMG...that is just what I was thinking....a thread completely dedicated to helping addicts quit smoking!!! I was going to ask the admin/mods if that was a good idea...never got around to it today though and than you posted this...wow!

OK...Jenn, Jill is right ... please come help us save Creedy!!! And I also love your Valentine Siggie!!! Fran...can you make me a Valentine Siggie? You make good siggies...and poor Bethy is always having to make mine ... cause I haven't a clue

What makes Gerry a ten to me is:

1. His personality....he can be hysterical when telling stories but he can also be very deep and intelligent when he wants to.

2. His looks .... he's got the most beautiful eyes, smile, lips, hands, feet, thighs, calfs, arms...well, you get the drift.

3. His talent ... when I first heard him sing in POTO he had me completely!

4. He eludes sex!!!

5. His gorgeous accent

And like Swan said, he has a good heart. Whether it be talking about his mum or jumping into a river to save a drowning boy or calling a fan on Christmas Day to cheer her up! How many actors would show up at a convention just to say hi to his fans or tape videos and messages for them. To donate so many things to them for charity. Gerry is one of a kind!

hugs,

Sue

:mopboymarek: AG - Here is Marek, but he is under-represented among the emoticons since most of the other characters have at least 2 and there is but one for Marek.

GALS quitting smoking, I must go in search, but we did have a forum at one time for support of that, I am pretty sure. I will find it and bump it so Sue and Erica and, heck, even Gerry if he is so inclined, can find it.

Hello ladies!!! Wow - another floor. Wahoo!!!

Jenn - love your siggie as well...

So, what makes Gerry a "10"? hum...let me think about that...Okay, here are my ten reasons. Mind you, some have been used before, but this is how I would categorize them.

1) He's extremely gracious to his fans and truly appreciates them and their support. Most actors/actresses claim that their fans mean the world to them, but then they snub them when asked for an autographed.

2) He has no poker face. What you see is what you get. He wears his emotions all over his face. You may not know what he's thinking but you can tell when something is going through his mind be it positive or negative. Again, you may not know the actuals but it's there.

3) He knows he has a bad habit (smoking) and is doing his best to try and break this habit. Being under so much pressure doesn't help, but he's at least seeking a way of combating this habit and I commend him for it. Long way to go I'm sure.

4) He has BIG hands...YUM!!!

5) He's not afraid to poke fun at himself and sees humor in every day occurances

6) Not afraid to show a bit of the gray when everyone else is trying desparately to maintain their "younger" look

7) Has the best potty mouth and not afraid to spew out verbage when he sees fit

8) Shows a tender side of himself by getting a very small, un-manly but adorable dog

9) Big FEET!!!! - double YUM!!!

10) Gerry's a "10" simply becuase I SAID SO! :cunning:

To all you lovely GALS, have a great day...Wahoo!!!!

Good afternoon lovelies!!

First, here you go, Sue :hug99: Keep up the good work and know that we are all here for you!

A list of all that I admire about Gerry? There's no way that I have enough time in the day to list them all. I agree with every one that has already been added here today. But, at this moment in my life, I think the one great, shining miracle that Gerry has unknowingly brought to my life, is the friendship I have now in my life. And, I think you know who I'm talking about *coughkissycough*.

On days like I am having today, dealing with the unknown of my health conditions, it is that friendship that brings light to my darkened day. And, whether I EVER get to meet the man in person, I know that I have already received the best that he could ever have given me...a best friend for life.

Thank you, kissy, for being all that you are to me....

Ok.....the melancholy is over!!!! Back to the ever important reason that we GALS are here- Let the Gerry lovin' continue!!!

*pressing the elevator button that will take her to the tenth floor* zzzzzzzzip...

(oh dang, exercise is supposed to me my top priority  ...rides elevator down a floor and makes a point of walking up that floor...)

I fear I would be redundant if I added my ten reasons why I admire Gerry so much (as I was reading I was going to list ten of his characters as well, but Attila Girl scooped me :kisswink: !)

Instead I am just going to list one: wherever this man goes, it's an adventure to follow him...and his kindness and generosity make me feel so invited on that journey. Hanging out with y'all while we peek into his amazing life and talent... it gives me something to look forward to every day.

And of course there is one other reason... When I stood up at SFF and offered to help anyone in the room get their hands on Gerry's rarer films, JackiesDazzler PMd me. Next thing you know... I had a mate for life, one I can't imagine ever being without. Love ya, Marce!!!

*cough cough* on other fronts...

thinking if you Sue as you fight the good fight with the cigs! here's to feeling fine in 2007, darls...

Good afternoon! My parents took my darling cherub for the morning and after errands and cleaning, I am relaaaaaaxin'

I pm'd her with a link Susan, last night. But here's a copy of it as well... Health Tips Subforum-Quit Smoking Tips and Support

I hope this is what all these courageous women who are trying to quit smoking are looking for. You all have my admiration for taking on such a challenge. Some of the older threads are invisible, but follow Zany's instructions on how to make them visible. Please ask, if you need help with this.

This is all I know of. Perhaps there's another place for info as well. Good luck GALS.

Edit: I'll go in and bump them so they aren't invisible anymore.

Hello everyone,

It would take me a while to figure out all the best 10 things about Gerry that haven't been said, but a few special things stick out to me: :inlove:

1) He always has a surprise up his sleeve. It's hardly ever a dull day in a Gerry forum, whether it's an interview, a picture, a video, an appearance that comes our way. I'm never short of amazement with that guy. We never have to hold our breath long for something new and enticing, and it usually surpasses our expectations. :heat:

2) He's funny as anything and laughter is a wonderful trait...always entertaining. :rotflmao:

4. He eludes sex!!!

You mean EXUDES? I'm the only one around here that eludes sex! :finger: Love ya, Irish! :inlove:

Sorry I've been MIA the past few days, just trying to work some things out, nothing earth-shattering.

CONGRATS on all who are quitting smoking! What a feat! Keep it up!

Such ADORABLE babies! I hope to one day have kids that cute.

One of the things I love about Gerry is that he isn't physically perfect, he gets a little paunchy from time to time, just like the rest of us. I loved it when he had a little more weight on him, but "fat" wasn't the word that I would have used. "Loveable" would be it.

He looked great at the Golden Globes party with his gf. I'm glad he's found someone he obviously cares a lot about.

Take care, everyone.

Posted Image Everybody.......

I believe most all of Gerrys qualities have been displayed quite nicely on our new 10th fl. It's almost as if there aren't any words left in the English language to describe HRH. Although..... we did forget Gorgeous! Oh wait.... no we didn't, I must have missed it.:funnyface::lol::funnyface:

Hope everyone is having a super day even though I see where some of you live the weather is Yucky!

I think we're going to be getting it here by the week-end. I'm soooo not looking forward to that.

Well,I was just glancing thru and thought I would bop in for a quick hello for now. Off to see my sis and Mom. Hope she's feeling better today. I've been very worried about her. I guess you would call my Mother the Matriarch of this well meaning but somewhat disfunctional family.:funnyface::funnyface: She's always tried to keep us all on the straight and narrow. Now she definitly needs us and I only hope I can be as strong of a woman as she has been. Thanks for listening, I don't know what made me go there but I feel better that I did.

Anyway, BIG (((HUGS))) to all who need them and thoses who don't.

Hey GALS!

Alison and AG, and everyone who's been wondering...sorry it's taken me so long to get back to this subject of my academic petitions....

Short Version

Sept 2005-March 2006, I have four oral surgeries. Was prescribed percocet and lortab for post-op painkillers. Worsens my depression and ADD. Have two very bad semesters in a row. Put on academic probation.

Summer 2006, I petition to financial aid to recieve grants/loans for the 2006-2007 year (you're cut off from federal aid if you're on academic probation). Petition is accepted. I'm advised to appeal to petitions office to get the offending grades removed or changed to official withdraws.

Fall 2006, I take my capstone directing class, and a senior dramatic lit class. I nearly kill myself investing in them. My third class suffers greatly, and regardless of a letter from the disability office and persisting in contacting the instructor, I recieve a failing grade. Three bad semesters in a row. Put on academic suspension.

Academic suspension causes the student to take a manditory 12 months away from the university before he/she is eligible to apply for readmittance. I finish my petition to get the bad grades removed from last school year and turn it in. I also petition to the Academic Standards Committee as to why this 12 month leave would be a bad idea.

Why a bad idea: because this is my LAST semester. I have this semester, one more class in spring term, and I graduate in August. If I'm kicked out now, chances are I'll never return.

Further complications: My registration is on hold (but I'm still attending classes right now), my financial aid for this semester is being withheld from me until this is sorted out...and I'm therefore flat broke.

First petition to remove grades: Got word on Friday, it was denied. Got very very angry, used the f-bomb in front of my parents (I never do that, but they understood), went home and wrote one hell of a rebuttal letter, sent it yesterday. Got word today, they are resubmitting my petition with my new statement.

Second petition to stay (in case the first petition screws me over): Haven't heard yet. This one, however, looks much more promising. Should hear by the end of this week. Add/Drop deadline for classes is Monday. Might have to repetition to financial aid to get the money released.

In a nutshell, I'm PISSED, and so SO tired of this.

Now...aren't you glad you asked? :stars:

Although I'm taking my battle examples from this guy--> :leochest:
