  1. I can see the resemblance. Doubter actually looks more like he could be Gerry's brother than his brother does (jmho)! One thing is for sure, though, Doubter is a PAL, not a GAL. I must contact Barb and ask her to rectify his status!

  3. As a matter of fact, Elissa, Holly and Binkie will be hosting a Twitter workshop, and I've asked them to include pointers on how to use cell phones to tweet. I'll bet they can anser un-Twitter related questions about your Blackberry, too. Holly? Binks? What say you two?

  4. Some of you knew that I was diagnosed with cervical cancer last September, though I did not post about it on the site. Well after chemo and radiation, I'm thrilled to tell you that my 1st PAP result was 100% clear, totally normal. Praise God, He's still in the business of performing miracles. I will have to have one done every 3 months for the 1st year, every 4 months for the 2nd year and twice a year for years 3, 4, and 5. Doesn't that sound like fun? I would appreciate your prayers and good thoughts that all consecutive results are good and that I will be declared totally cancer free when that 5 years is finished.

  5. Hi J... Up at the top right of the forum page, notice your screen name with an arrow pointing down next to it. Place your cursor on the arrow and a drop-down window will appear that has "messages" as one of the choices. This is the new portal to PMs (personal messages).

As to why you are unable to log in or out, I have no idea, but if you are permanently logged in now you should be able to access your messages.

  6. Naoma, I'm all for this workshop - you know I need it. (Whether I'd be free to attend is another question.) I don't have those programs either unless they are on my notebook, will have to check.

    Hugs,

    Libby

The producers of the Academy Awards have upped the hunk factor with the addition of eight handsome men who will serve as presenters during the show Sunday night. They are Hangover star Bradley Cooper, A Single Man director/fashion designer Tom Ford, Jake Gyllenhaal, Star Trek's Chris Pine, Keanu Reeves, Avatar actor Sam Worthington, Ryan Reynolds and Gerard Butler. — Arienne Thompson

  8. Thanks to Lisa (Phoenixgirl) for this article:

    Celebrities Sock It to 'Em

    Published Date: 15 February 2010

    By Susan Smith

SCOTTISH film star Gerard Butler has put his foot in it to model for a charity campaign.

Butler is one of four stars who feature in an advertising campaign for red and white stripy socks being sold to raise money for Sports Relief.

Girl's Aloud star Sarah Harding, singing diva Dame Shirley Bassey and television presenter Jeremy Clarkson are also featuring in adverts for the limited edition socks to be sold at Sainsbury's.

The socks will sell for £2 with at least £1 going to the Comic Relief spin-off fundraiser.

Sport Relief takes place on the weekend of 19 to 21 March and will see celebrities and the public take part in a variety of sporting feats.

Sav has posted a similar article from the SUN that includes a great picture Socks Symbol

  9. Thanks for sending me the link, Swannie, because just as I predicted, I forgot to tune in for the actual broadcast. You were awesome. I listened with rapt interest and relived all of the history as you shared this whole experience. Loved hearing your insights about the story's characters and loved remembering the events of that 1st convention. How cool was that (except for the wheelchair pushing part)? Get that book published soon, woman. I'm ready to read the finished work.

  10. It's accurate Bex, at least it was at the time it was originally printed. This is an old news item probably dusted off because of Burns Night.

That's what I was afraid of. We'll just have to keep hoping and praying this gets done soon.

I had my suspicions about this being new, too, so I've moved the topic to "Rumors" until we recieve more concrete evidence that this is a new "News" item.

  11. From California Chronicle: http://www.californiachronicle.com/articles/yb/140384145,

DARING Gerard Butler will bare all in a sensational film about Robert Burns. The film's director, Vadim Jean, admitted 40-year-old Butler is set to thrill fans because the film will explore our bard's raunchy reputation.

"Gerard and I are both totally committed to the film," said Jean.

"There's plenty of sex and nude scenes in it.

"He was a notorious rake of his time. We are not whitewashing Burns by any means.

"He was a complicated character and to do justice to his story is not a simple thing." Fellow Scots Brian Cox and John Hannah are lined up to appear, although a female lead has yet to be cast as Jean Armour, the poet's great love.

The pounds 5million movie will be shot on location in Ayrshire and Edinburgh.

Most of the budget, which includes investment from Scottish Screen, is already in place. The remainder will be raised by signing up 250 "subscribers".

Vadim Jean sprang to fame as the director of cult classic Leon the Pig Farmer and went on to work with Ewan McGregor in the 2006 film, Scenes of a Sexual Nature.

  12. Just read this blog which suggests that Gerry has "snubbed" the role of Robert Burns.

    http://deadlinescotland.wordpress.com/2009...-scotland-2074/

No idea if there is any truth to this report.

    Swannie

I read this, too, this morning. My gut reaction is "consider the source." I shouted at my moniter, "you filthy stinking liar" as if that would make it disappear! Seriously, I don't believe he has snubbed Burns. Perhaps due to the copious delays it may have become impossible for him to continue planning on the project, but I don't for a minute believe he has "snubbed" it. Just more outrageous hype by the media, in my opinion.
  13. Aaarrghhhh! The wait is killing me, but I must exercise self control. Swannie, you know I love your story from it's genesis, so I'm chomping at the bits to get started reading this draft. Unfortunately real life is causing a delay in me diving into it with full gusto, but please be patient, I'll get it read soon.
