I wish all of my GF's and sisters a wonderful St. Paddy's Day. My Bryan, Toni and the boys will be traveling home today from Puerta Villarta where they've been for a week. I can't wait to see them. It's funny...when I lived in Redding I would have to go a month or six weeks without seeing them and now a week and I'm going crazy...lol.

Frannie, if you read this....I miss you so much my dear sister......

I'm off this evening to dinner with a bunch of friends for church. I guess it wouldn't be hard to figure out that the meal is going to consist of corn beef and cabbage with homemade Irish soda bread.

love to all.

  • 2 weeks later...

OMG! I did so much catching up that I forgot half of what I was going to say to my Galfriends cept the fact that I too miss you all!

STEPH!! How great it is to see you Sweetie! You have been missed my friend.

Suzie, my Sweet Sweet Suzie.....I can't tell you how so so sorry I am to hear about Teeny .... (((HUGS))) my friend.

Sue, my sister of the heart! I know I haven't been around much but to be honest I just haven't been well and I think this is finally getting to me. This Gastro is getting the best of me lately and I can't go to the specialist til April 17th! Soooooooooooooo I've been just sleeping a lot. I peek on here now and then and also FB but I don't stay long. I've lost so much weight that it's starting to worry me. I guess I'm down to about 126 now....from a Gal weighing in at 200 at one time this is not good! Anyway, I won't get into any more but just know that I think of you guys all the time and hopefully I'll get some kind of help when I see this new specialist. I'll be calling you soon Sweetie, I promise.

In the meantime while I'm here I would like to wish you all a Blessed and Happy Easter. I know it's time to take my SP siggy down huh??

Susan, it was good seeing you too....Haven't been on that much myself but did notice that you've been amongst the missing Sweetie....

BIG ((((HUGS)))) to all my Galfriends

 Frannie

Sending lots of love and Easter blessings, my friends. Hope all are well and enjoying the changing of the seasons..... but, love and best wishes to all our GalPals in the northeastern section of Texas. Last Tuesday was so hard....(my cousin said she, her special ed class, and their personal aides all had to hang out in her small interior office for 2 hours --- the sirens rang and they got released to be immediately sent right back into lockdown 15 minutes later.... truly - the horror).....

Hippity hop...... and lots of love.

Jill, the tornadoes in the Dallas area were awful. My daughter and two adult grandkids live there, and I was a wreck till I knew they were OK. My Granddaughter lives in Arlington and one of the twisters came right down her street! She had slight damage to the roof and downspouts on her home, but otherwise is OK. She was actually visiting a friend out of state and rushed back to check on her house. My daughter and grandson were both at work and are fine. Nancy is a teacher and was stuck with over one hundred 8th and 9th graders crammed into one classroom for over an hour. They thought it was all a huge joke and were not at all cooperative. (She is just hoping everyone kept it zipped!) I don't know how teachers can be so patient!

San Antonio is right on the every tip of Tornado Alley, so we seldom have problems here and, in fact, we are the only major city in Texas with no sirens. However, three twisters struck here that same day, one just over a mile from me. It was 2:00 AM, the power was out and so was my Internet. No warnings at all! Scary night, but all was fine here. I wonder if there are any houses for sale in Tahiti!

Had a quiet Easter. We had dinner with my mom at Air Force Village which was wonderful...I even got a pressy from the Easter Bunny there.

Hope your Easter was lovely.

Huge hugs to all,

I hope everyone who celebrates Easter or Passover had a blessed holiday weekend! I spent mine helping my daughter move. She now has a really cute apartment not far from our house. It still looks like a disaster area, but we're slowly plowing through boxes. The worst part is, the movers who moved her from Los Angeles to San Antonio disassembled everything and found magic hiding places for the hardware, so when the local movers moved her furniture from our storage unit to her apartment, they couldn't put the futon, book/display case, or tv stand together, so these things are in pieces. :( They only reassembled her bed and dining table. Yes, the other movers even took the base to her table apart! Several hours after the movers left, I found the hardware to the futon...in the microwave! :gah: Thankfully, Suzie and her brother Richard are going to come over to Erin's apartment tomorrow to, hopefully, put this furniture together for us. They're good at stuff like that! :D

Suzie, I'd rethink that Tahiti idea. They may not have tornados, but they do have typhoons there. Just sayin! :duck:

Typhoons? Heck - any good Texas lady can stand that! Take your boots and kick the snot outa them....

but reassembling flat pack furniture? With unknown hardware in micros? Give me the willies and the shivers combined!!!!

Love to everyone!

I just wanted to brag on the amazing PaisleyScot...ultimate siggy-maker. I have been a member since June of 2011 but i have been internetless for 9 months, so sorry if this is the wrong place for this. But she literally made my day with this lil' thing, and I have to tell it! :wuv:

The divorce has been h*ll, and the daily's of life never stop for the small joys that live in the present moment.

I am stopping right here...breathing deep, and thanking THE WOMAN(GAL), that rocked the : "Yeah, you are nearly 50, newly divorcing, overburdened mother of 8 (the oldest of which just announced she is pregnant!!), freaked out, stressed out, might be crazy, GB obsessed woman's" life raft.

very cool

again it has been too long!! I've been so busy with school and work, and family that I haven't been around in ages!

Things are going well, with a few bumps in the road. I have been checking in on Gerry news, and of course new pics. He seems to be overtaxing himself again.

I can't stay long, but I did post a blog here on the site. You can read if you want to.

Also, you all can find me on facebook as staceycakes73 and on twitter as prettyfreak73. I'm hardly on the twitter, but always on the facebook. You can check out all the pics from the culinary classes I'm in, and see why I've not had any success on a diet since moving to Houston! lol

Take care GALS, Stay Well and Stay Safe!

AND NOW.... the original thread.

Being the compassionate person that I am, I can recognize a cry for help when I see one. Having said that, I have decided to start a new support group for those of us with Gerry Addicted Lust Syndrome - from now on, all with Gerry Addicted Lust Syndrome will be known as GALS.

This group is open to all GALS and non-GALS alike who believe they are in serious need of support and guidance as they realize how serious their addiction has become. This is not a support group which advocates traditional intervention, as the failure rate would be astronomical, but merely a group whom you can turn to who share in your addictions or withdrawals, whichever the case may be. Some of the signs that you have GALS include, but are not limited to:

1. You buy every magazine on the rack looking for photos or articles of Gerry and start to get the jitters when there has been no sign of him for weeks.

2. You drive 500 miles to see a Gerry movie.

3. Your significant other (or just someone you're dating) gives you stark reminders they are SOOOO NOT Gerry.

4. Co-workers, friends and/or family start teasing you for your addiction people can be so cruel...

5. You become addicted to caffeine because you can't pull yourself away from GALS...."'cause just MAYBE he'll be on Chat tonight."

6. You obsess with much glee, "Gerry has a computer...and he knows how to use it!!!!"

7. You find yourself asking aloud, "Did he REALLY mean what he said about the 3:00 a.m. thing and does he REALLY wear a size 11 shoe?" Then smile broadly.

8. You catch yourself speaking in a Scottish accent for no apparent reason.

9. You change the decor in your bathroom to accommodate your new yellow towels.

10. The "G-Spot" takes on a whole new meaning.

11. You spend days wondering why a Scot would be named "Andre."

12. You buy "Mrs. Brown" just for the skinny-dipping scene and play that one scene in slow mo and super slow mo, over and over and over again. (Okay, so maybe that was just me.) :D

13. You have a picture of Gerry in your wallet, and refer to him as "your man, Gerry."

14. You spend your hard-earned cash assigned for other "non-essential" items (phone bill, power bill, etc.) on essential Gerry related items.

15. You go shopping for your "real-life" man and finding yourself thinking, "OMG!!! Gerry would look so :censored: hot in that!!!"

16. You have to buy a new hard drive to accommodate all your pics and videos of Gerry.

17. You search through a couple hundred $5.50 DVDs at Wal-Mart because an employee said Dracula 2K might be there.

18. You can't possibly walk past Starbucks without dreaming that maybe... *sighs*

19. You refer to the Gerry wallpaper on your computer as your "happy place."

20. While looking up at the clouds you SWEAR there's a cloud in the shape of a "G"...funny thing is, the GAL next to you sees the same thing!!!

21. Multiples (Gerrygasms) are an every day occurrence!!!

This list will continue to grow as you tell me your addictions...

Below is a very simple 10-step program to help foster our addiction.

1. You must admit you have GALS. This is so important to further your addiction. Yes, this support group wants to nourish your addiction, not starve it. We are here for you.

2. Come to believe the Great and Powerful Gerry is greater than ourselves and only our visions and/or fantasies can keep us addicted. To truly become addicted, however, one must at one time in ones life made the Gerry Mecca Journey (GMJ) and meet him in person.

3. Make a decision to turn our will and lives over to our addiction to Gerry.

4. Make a searching and fearless immoral inventory of our fantasies of Gerry.

5. Lend your support to those who have GALS, but are yet unable to admit it.

6. Watch every movie (more than once) in which Gerry has a role. To be truly addicted, you must develop a love of all Gerry genres (yes, this includes "Tale of the Mummy" and "Dracula 2000").

7. Frequently quote lines from Gerry films. Memorize them, use them, replace old phrases with new Gerry lines. This will prove to all your serious commitment to your addiction.

8. Know Gerry's biography better than you know your own. True GALS will know all Gerry's trivia. Study it, soak it in, become one with Gerry's biography.

9. Give generously (money folks) to the website which has fostered your addictions and allowed your fantasies to take flight.

10. Convert all who are convertible to this syndrome. This is the true mark of GALS. Do not judge - for your next recruit may be your boss!

As this is a relatively new Syndrome, the above guidelines are subject to editing, amending or scrapping all together as we GALS deem necessary.

The first step to true addiction is to admit you have GALS!! I will begin the group.

"My name is Dr. Em and I have GALS."

All are welcome to join in our group. GALS, we must not suffer in silence!!! We now have a voice!!! Let it be heard!

*Disclaimer: We GALS appreciate not only Gerry's royal hotness for which there is no rival, we indeed, also recognize his abundance of talent, soul, passion, spirit, sense of style and humor, sincerity...can I stop now? Our addictions are all-encompassing and we embrace Gerry EVERY WHICH WAY WE CAN!!!*

To Cleobethra for our "Warning Label."

I really have been absent a lot! I just caught up and realized I missed rare appearances here by Cassie, Stef, Frannie, Isabeau, Donna Jean and my bestie Cheri!! How life flies by and you don't even realize how long it's been since you last checked in with the fanmily! Elissa - sorry to hear about Bill's blood clots - went through that with my ex-husband back in the late 80's and it was quite scary.

I sympathize with those having computer problems. I had to come into work just to use the internet today because ours at home has been down for a week since we got hacked on both computers last weekend due to an issue with our wireless router. My husband had to wipe both cmoputers clean and is just starting to get everything reloaded on them, and put an industrial strength firewall to keep the hackers out (we hope). I'm not sure yet what might have been lost - it turns out the backup drive I bought is full so I don't know if I lost any photos. Photos, videos and music is about all I cared about on that computer. My husband hasn't been able to get back his accounting records for his buiness so he had to recreate them from his hand-written notes (thankfully he had those) so I could calculate our taxes.

Work is still very busy, not quite as crazy as it was, but then we have taxes, annual reports and budgeting all coming up in the next couple of months so I expect the insanity will ensue again. I'm looking forward to a vacation to New Mexico in a couple of weeks. We are visiting friends who moved back there last year and we'll be attending the big Gathering of Nations Pow Wow in Albuquerque. So far the only other vacation I have planned is the trip to Vegas for the convention in June. I wish you all could be there - it is going to be very special this year with Sam and Deborah there! I usually try to make a few trips there during the year but with starting the new job and having so many goals to accomplish in short order, I have not been there at all since the last convention.

Tonight hubby and I are going to see a show called Forbidden Broadway 2. We saw the original a few years ago - they do spoof versions of popular songs from Broadway shows and it is very entertaining. Next month we will see the Million Dollar Quartet, a show based on the one time in 1956 when Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash all got together for a recording session at Sun Records in Memphis. I'm really looking forward to that!

Just popping in to say hello! It's been hectic with me too! My Mom had a fall and broke her shoulder last month, so we had to quickly sell her house and move her to an assisted living apartment. It's a beautiful place and she loves it there, but she's been very sick with a stomach ailment and so far they don't know what's causing it. Meanwhile, I'm adjusting to life with my dear hubby's Alzheimer's. At the moment he is having withdrawals from the prednisone he was prescribed for 2 years for a different health condition, so he's very anxious, and sadly, his aches, pain and stiffness are coming back. But he's such a dear man and tries so hard not to let all this get him down, and his faith in God is totally unwavering.

Most of the time I manage, but weekly meltdowns for me are not unusual. I'm now about ready to submit the revised series of Chanson to my new publisher. It has been a very slow process with many interruptions...but my novel will be out there in its fullness in a few months.

My love to all the GALs...Frannie, I am always thinking about you. Stef, so great to see your smiley face here on GALS again! Susan, Suzie, Elissa, all you lovely friends...blessings!

As for Gerry, I guess I'm not really following him too closely these days, but I do wish him well, as always.

Hubby PAL Good Sport is feeling better, but gets tired because of his rapid, irregular heart rate due to atrial fibrillation. He's scheduled to have a cardioversion where they shock the heart back into normal sinus rhythm next week. Please keep him in your prayers. The cardiologist says it's a very common, simple procedure that he's done thousands of times. Easy for him to say!

Susan, good to see you again! So sorry your computers were hacked. I hope you didn't lose a lot of data.

Swannie, :hugs:
