Welcome to the 2015 Edition of Gerry Character Survivor!

Week 8

Gerry's characters are all now abandoned on an island. In weeks 1-10 (or until 15 men remain), all GALS are invited to cast a vote to send home two characters of their choice. In later weeks, there will be some immunity challenges to protect favorites from being voted off. Vote by posting your choice TO BE SENT HOME on this thread.

This thread is open to discussion about Gerry's characters, and why you love or dislike specific characters. Feel free to form alliances to save your favorites from elimination!

Voting will end each week on Sunday at 8pm Pacific time, 10pm Central time, and 11pm Eastern time. (NO LATE VOTES WILL BE ACCEPTED.)

Our previous champions are: Erik, the Phantom (Phantom of the Opera), Gerry Kennedy (P. S. I Love You), Andre Marek (Timeline), Attila (Attila), Beowulf (Beowulf & Grendel), Mike Banning (Olympus Has Fallen), and The Stranger (Dear Frankie). Please note that they are NOT included in this tournament. They are enjoying retirement in the Hall of Champions where there are no unhappy endings. They are replaying their movies and telling each other tall tales of their days of glory.

Eliminated last week were Gus and Charles Bellamy + Archie Brown (tie for 2nd vote).

Voting off Tullus, who was never in a movie, and Jackie Junior. Now Jackie can come to me and show me once again those yellow towel moves. :pantingheart:

Uh, Kathy, Tullus was in a movie. He was in Coriolanus.

OK, I'm losing it! I was thinking of Caligula! That is what I get when I do something in a hurry. I'm getting ready to leave Florida Thursday and remembered this game and rushed in to vote before I forgot. Haste makes waste. My only excuse is I'm tired.

I'll let my vote stand as is and YES Coriolanus certainly WAS a movie. i actually liked it. Not Gerry's character so much.

I thought you might have been thinking of that Caligula trailer! I wasn't too fond of Coriolanus. For some reason, the trend to put modern settings and wardrobe on a Shakespearean play, but use the original dialog, is off-putting to me. It was really goofy seeing the characters watch a big screen TV while saying things like "methinks." Either go completely modern, or stick with period costumes and props. Tullus was a sexy dude, however. Just my :2cents:

Recorded your vote. :) Safe travels!

You are right on all counts. I do like Shakespeare so I enjoyed the language and the story. It would have been better if it weren't in a more modern setting. Tullus was sexy, indeed, but his character was lacking for some reason. Maybe I expected more from him. Not Gerry's fault. He made the most of what he was given.

I couldn't get into Cariolanus at all (except for sexy Tullis). But Shakespere should have given him more to do. However, those crowd scenes with the hand held camera gave me motion sickness. NOTHING is entertaining when you feel like barfing!

HOWEVER, this is about characters, not bad movies. Shutting up now.
